A soldier falls
In foreign mud.
In another land
He sheds his blood.
On that day
I guarantee
His thoughts were not
On you and me.
His future dreams
his family ties.
end in the soil
Where he lies.
His loved ones home
Are safe in bed.
Not yet knowing
He is dead.
It is them
Who sacrifice
The son, the daughter,
The soldier's wife.
Their pain so deep
We can not know
About our lives
We blindly go.
So for a moment
Just say a prayer
For the soldier's families
Both here and there.
