A Poem for Cinco De Mayo
Come to your lovely death.
Eight thousand souls
Freed at the edge of a blade,
Freed to dance
Beneath the soles of boots
And the riot of a chiliad of horses.
Come!
Come to your glorious death
This fifth of May!
We will drink these spirits
And feel their bullets
Burn beneath our flesh
Like the bullish blood that courses.

Venido!
Venido a su muerte encantadora.
Ocho mil almas
Liberado en el borde de una lámina,
Liberado para bailar
Debajo de las plantas del pie de cargadores
Y el alboroto de un chiliad de caballos.
Venido!
Venido a su muerte gloriosa
¡Estos cinco de Mayo!
Beberemos estas bebidas espirituosas
Y sienta sus balas
Quemadura debajo de nuestra carne
Como el toro fuertes sangre que cursos.

A chiliad of horses! My EUW alarm went off! (Exciting, unusual word.) Un chiliad de caballos is such a rhythmic phrase I hear the hoofbeats. Now I must know: How many is a chiliad?
