Several former World Wrestling Entertainment stars were in attendance, along with several actors from various movies and television series. Among the actors in attendance were Billy Dee Williams, Lee Majors, and Joan Severance. Also appearing were Nicholas Brendon and Clare Kramer, from the "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" show, which was highly popular in the 90s. I'll get to the Buffy cast in a moment. There were also six well-known former WWE stars that were in attendance as well
Kevin Nash, who gained prominence as "Big Daddy Cool" Diesel in the old WWF days of the mid-90s, was on hand to sign autographs and take pictures with the thousands of fans that turned out for the three-day event. Also on hand were the former Divas, who were showing off their pictures and signing autographs as well. Christy Hemme, Lita, Torrie Wilson, Jackie Haas, and Tara all made special appearances at Comic-Con and were very gracious with their time.
Tara, who was better known in the WWE as Victoria, and Lita were by far the nicest of the ladies. They had no problem talking to fans about their time spent in WWE, and what the fans like or don't like about the business today. I spent several minutes talking to her and Lita about their time in the business and what it takes to work the schedules that they do. Being an indy wrestler myself, most indy guys don't have the schedules that the big players do. Now there are some that do, but the majority works a normal job through the week, and then packs the suitcase for the weekend.
In addition to the wrestlers, there were also several actors and actresses that many will remember from various shows and movies we grew up watching. Lee Majors, Billie Dee Williams, Joan Severance and Lou Ferrigno joined three cast members of "Buffy, The Vampire Slayer" for the weekend. James Charles Leary (Clem), Clare Kramer (Glory), and Nicholas Brendon (Xander Harris) took part in the event and Nicholas provided a great moment that won't soon be forgotten.
While my two year old was looking at photographs of Xander and Glory, Nicholas gave him a full color picture and even autographed it for him. While everybody else at Comic-Con was charging $30 or more for a photograph, not including the autographs, Xander was nice enough to hand him a personally autographed picture free of charge. When we got back from Comic-Con, I immediately sent out thank you emails to the PR department of Wizard World as well as Tara from TNA. I also sent one to Jacqueline Day, who is the webmaster for Nicholas Brendon. I've heard back from all of them since the event, and based on the weekend and email communication since then, I look forward to getting the opportunity to go to a Comic-Con event again. If you are interested in going to one of these events, check out the Wizard World website.
