A Spirited Competition: Selling Haunted Jewelry on Ebay

How Can an Average Girl Keep Up with Powerful Dead Witches?

Delisa Carnegie, Intuitive Coach, Artist, VA
I'm a jewelry maker. I have been selling my creations on the internet for about a year. I spend a lot of time researching how others sell their jewelry. Part of that time is spent looking at listings on Ebay. While I make a specific type of jewelry, I'm sill in competition with every jewelry listing on Ebay. There are a lot of them. During my research, I talked to other jewelry makers and found they also have low Ebay sales. I started paying more attention to what was getting bid on, instead of just how it was listed.

I was a little surprised by what I found. I noticed a lot of bids going to haunted jewelry. Most of this haunted jewelry is not handmade, but it is listed in the same category I use. So, I'm competing with it. I know that jewelry is always going to have heavy competition, that doesn't bother me.

All that haunted jewelry got me thinking. Why are people buying this stuff? I started reading some of the item descriptions. I still couldn't see why people where bidding on this jewelry. A lot of the pieces has similar histories, even thought the sellers where different. Thousands of listings for items claiming to be possessed by Jinn, Faeries, Spirits and blessed, cursed, owned by dead but powerful Witches and Gypsies. And yes, people are buying it. Most items had more than one bid.

Ok, I'm a pagan who practices witchcraft. I believe in hauntings, Faeries, spirits,Witches and all that. I'm also a big skeptic. I have a hard time believing anything one says, especially when they are selling something. I know it is a personal issue I have to work on. So, are people listing things as "haunted" just to get sales? I hope not, but I wonder. Mainly when I see titles containing things like "unlimited wishes granted!". Now, do you really think that if someone had a ring or something that granted unlimited wishes, they would be selling in on Ebay for 9.99? I don't.

I'm not saying that the sellers of all of these items are trying to rip us off, but to me it doesn't scream "I'm a good person." Are any of these sellers telling the truth? I don't know. I'm not going to waste my money bidding to find out if that Witch's ring will make me lucky or not. And what does that say about the bidders? Are they bidding for fun or do the truly believe that their wishes will come true?

Could I increase my sales by stating that my jewelry is made by a witch? Maybe, and I wouldn't be lying. I don't place charms or spells on my jewelry. The only energies they contain are the stones own energies. Could I raise my jewelry sales by claiming I've trapped some being in it that grants wishes? I don't think it would hurt my sales. I also don't think that it would be helpful to me or the bidders as human beings.

Real genies on Ebay.LMAO Didn't you know there are real genies and Ilmu Khodams on Ebay granting wishes? The genies are the buyers who shell out hundreds of dollars and grant the lazy rip off sellers their wish. They can buy anything they want as long as you keep putting the cash in their greedy little hands. You are their genies. Don't expect to receive anything in return. A pack of con artist out to make a quick buck.

Ebay haunted genie rings and the despicable sellers finally some truth one seller was so crude and mean that after I left her a plus feedback but let her know that I wasn't happy as no results she emailed me like some kind of demon demanding I add a nice note to my feedback and instructions on how to do it her way. She offered me a genie potion if I would change it but I wouldn't want anything she sells. She's a total fraud. Yeppa with all the new supernatural trendy shows the thieves think they can lie in bed all day and wait for us to get home after a hard day's work and rip the money from our hands. Hauntings exist but you won't find any on Ebay. They are a pack of hoodlums looking to make an easy buck. It's time we but them out of business so they can go out and find a real job. Buy from the metaphysical sellers not using the word haunted and who don't jack up the price by hundreds of dollars.

There isn't an honest one among them. Anyone of us can call out to the universe, claim anything, and than rip people off. There are true haunted items but you won't find them on Ebay. There must be 1000 genies coming from Egypt on a daily basis and wow witches sure have come out of the closet with a bag full of goodies. It's a con job everyone. We have real jobs and the haunted Ebay sellers have their stories. Don't be conned. Tell them to go out and get a real job.

Hal- How dare you include Witches in supernatural groups. Last I knew, I was as real as you.

  • Robin8/8/2006

You should list some of your jewelry as made by a witch, but not all of it. But don't claim you've trapped beings, that's unethical to do for real, let alone lie about it! My own group once tossed around the idea of having an ebay fundraiser of "enchanted" jewelry and really charging it for some purpose. We wouldn't be lying! In the end though, we never did.

Hal- I wasn't saying that Gypies were the same as Witches. I'm talking about Ebay listings. If Gypies beging together with Witches bothers you so much, Please tell the Ebay seller all about it.
As for everyone else, Thank you for commenting I love reading them. Even ones like Hal's! I will admit that I'm terrible at writing great listings for my jewelry. I just don't like sounding cheesy. Thanks for the site links I will be checking them out. You can find me on Ebay as enchantedspirals or www.enchantedspirals.com

as I was saying, you make jewelry because you love your art. you will find buyers who will buy it for the same reason. And to Mr McCorrie, I don't think it was the author's intent to disparage any group, she was simply stating what she saw on eBay. It is the eBay sellers who are perpetuating misinformation. But you yourself sound as though you hold some prejudice again "supernatural groups" as you put it. Are us supernatural types bad company or something?
