A Step by Step Guide to Using Traffic Exchanges

Alicia Bodine
I promote a certain number of programs that I truly believe in. I do this through various different forms of advertising. The one form that I am asked the most questions about is Traffic Exchanges. Most individuals who are new at Internet Marketing don't know the value of traffic exchanges or how to use them. This article will shed some much-needed light on the subject so that those who are unfamiliar with traffic exchanges can begin to use them, and use them effectively.

The first thing you need to do is sign up to a few Traffic Exchanges. I will walk you through one so that you will be able to easily follow the steps again and again with the others. Traffic Swarm is probably one of the most popular and widely used Traffic Exchanges around. That is why I choose it for my demonstration.

*Visit TrafficSwarm.com
*Click Login, and on the next page there is a red tab up top that says Join for FREE. Click that.
*Type in Your first name and your primary email account. (You will get 100 free credits to start)
*Fill in the rest of your information. It is self-explanatory. Type in the security code and check both boxes. Click Go to step 3.
*You can set Traffic Swarm as your start page, but I don't recommend it. Just scroll down and click continue.
*Click No (unless you are interested in the offers) and click continue
*Scroll Down until you See: Manage Your Site Promotions. Under that click add a New Site Address. This is where you will enter the referral address of the site you are advertising. Once you are done with that...
*Scroll back to the top and click Surf for Credits. You need to surf for 50 credits to make your account become active. Then other people will be able to view your site.
*Before you log out, click Refer others to Traffic Swarm. This will give you your referral ID so you can get credits for anyone who signs up under you. Make sure you write this address down. It's an easy way to get credits without having to do any manual surfing.

Now that you know how to sign up for traffic exchanges, I want to explain the two different types of exchanges that are out there.

1. Automatic: You login and click surf. Then the sites automatically switch over every few seconds. You can set this up and walk away from your computer and you will still be earning credits.
2. Manual: You must manually surf each site. A phrase will pop up and tell you to click on a certain number or picture to get to view the next site. You can not walk away from your computer and earn credits.

At first glance Automatic sounds like the best way to go. I want to caution you though. Most people who use the automatic traffic exchanges will walk away from their computers like you are and never even see your site. You have a better shot of your site being viewed if you stick with the manual traffic exchanges.

So How do You Know Which Traffic Exchanges to sign up for?

You can do a little search in your favorite search engine to find some traffic exchanges, but there are over 200,000 of them. If you want to make sure you are using some of the most effective and professional traffic exchanges, your best bet would be to use a site called Traffic Hoopla. Each day they compile the best traffic exchanges and display them on the front page. They also have tons of great traffic exchange information and they are totally free to use. I highly recommend this site. It will give you all the best traffic exchanges without you having to do any of the research.

I am a single stay at home mom of 2 girls. My youngest has Angelman Syndrome so I had to learn how to work from home. I enjoy writing and using the programs on my blog http://paidtowrite.blogspot.com. Fee...  View profile

Some sites will ban you for the automatic ones. So be careful. I like ILoveHits and TrafficDodgems. Thanks for the information.
