A Student Athlete- Aron White

UGA Tight-End Shines at Graduation

Aron White, a current tight-end on the University of Georgia Bulldog Football Team recently served as the student commencement speaker at UGA's December ceremonies. I have known and admired several football players over the years, but in recent times, Aron is tops. In the commencement speech that he individually composed, he shared his honest thoughts and feelings about being a student at the University of Georgia over the last few years.

Not only has Aron completed his undergraduate degree in 3.5 years, but he has done so playing football, serving in various campus organizations, and working with his college fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha. He is the true measure of student-athlete and certainly represents the type of role-model that I would want my children to emulate. In fact, he is a shining star across the UGA campus and widely respected by many for his positive works and great attitude.

On a personal note, I received the opportunity to meet Aron at the Bulldog's recent bowl game in Memphis, Tennessee shortly after the Liberty Bowl Parade. Aron was there on Beale Street enjoying the festivities and marching along the parade route following the famous Marching Redcoat Band. It was amazing seeing him greet the fans, take pictures, talk, and sign autographs with those who stopped to shake hands. I can truly say that this young man is a well-mannered gentleman and I am proud that he is a member of the Georgia Bulldogs. Seeing this youngster interact with everyone provided a bright spot during a football season that has not had many bright spots for the Georgia Bulldog Football Team. Congrats to Aron for graduating and I wish him all the best in future endeavors.

Great article. Thank you for taking the time to shed some light on a very positive athlete. I wish there was more of this in the media.
