Public transportation is inexpensive, clean and safe. The public buses run from the Hotel Zone to downtown Cancun and, at $.065 each way, it is an unbeatable deal. Bus stops are clearly marked on the main street in front of the hotels and they come every 10 - 15 minutes. Many tourists use the buses to visit Mercado 28, a traditional Mexican market where local residents sell their authentic Mexican crafts and gifts. Be prepared to barter with them and get some great deals on souvenirs. If you left any of your important sundry essentials at home, there is a Wal-Mart near the Mercado with many items at the same prices as at home.
When you are visiting Cancun on a budget and still want to experience some of Cancun's famous restaurants, lunch is your best bargain of the day. Many restaurants offer lunch specials at almost half the cost of the meals on the dinner menu. Popular Cancun restaurants to try are Carlos & Charlie's, Maria Bonita, La Madonna and Captain's Cove. If you are up for some adventure in Cancun, AquaWorld is located in the center of the Hotel Zone. AquaWorld offers half day and full day adventures in snorkeling, diving, deep sea fishing, parasailing, and swimming with the dolphins with prices to match every budget.
There are many websites on the Internet offering all inclusive packages to Cancun. It is strongly recommended to choose a reputable site to book your vacation such as Orbitz, Expedia, Travelocity or Apple Vacations. Price your vacation on several sites before making a final decision since prices can vary from site to site. If your dates are flexible, check the costs for departing the day before or day after your original departure date and you may see some huge cost savings due to airline and hotel demand on certain days. Cancun is a wonderful and budget friendly vacation destination for families, couples, friends and people of all ages.
