A Summer's Memory

How Mom Made an Ordinary Day Special

RANDY DEABAY
Early in the morning, a ballad of the robin
Through out the neighborhood, the resonance of children
The perfume of last night's cool rain permeates the air
A picnic basket open and ready to be filled
Little ones giggling and excited an adventure they will share
Sandwiches, and kool aid, lovingly placed after being chilled
A water hose in good working order, the toy of the day
Make believe and jumping, giggling, and play
Mom dressed all in special with her picnic clothes abound
Mom in the leadership and little ones in quick tow
To the big old oak tree for canopy they will go
The old picnic blanket is gently placed upon the ground
Then it is a visit to the water falls of the mind
A thin mist of water escapes the nozzle of a high hanging hose
In their little imaginations, very lofty water falls to those
An afternoon of entertainment, and a quick little picnic
All planned in advance with love and adventure
Mom making one day of many so special
Days passed by, but will never be forgotten...
