Although the wedding was DIY, it was very tasteful. The wedding was planned to be held outside in the back yard of my wife's aunt. The runner ran from the porch to the wedding arch. The porch was set up for the bar and the dance floor for the reception. We hung Christmas type lights on the ceiling of the porch to simulate star light. The tables had disposable cameras to allow guests to capture candid photos of our day. Everything was in place for a perfect day.
The weather report, however, was not that promising. Rain was called for the entire day. My best man and I had to run several errands. I realized that I didn't have a pair of dress shoes that fit. We had to go ahead and purchase sodas for the wedding for the children and those who did not want alcohol. The liquor store that we bought it from wouldn't sell us the soda because we did not have Texas state drivers licenses. Things were seeming to start to fall apart.
Fortunately, there were no signs of clouds in the sky. I had to give an in depth explanation to the manager of the liquor store to explain why we needed the sodas. I had my dress shoes, but when we got to the house, one of my groomsmen apparently had no dress shoes. As I was about to hand him some money to go buy some, my wife's cousin had a pair that would fit. We were finally ready.
Our families were seated. There were photos in the front seats of our family members who had passed and could not make it. Everything went perfectly. The families all had a good time. The cake and food were magnificent. As we were getting ready to have our honeymoon night, a light rain had finally decided to fall. So, even though everything seemed to be ready to fall apart, we had a perfect day for a wonderful wedding.
