A Sunny Day at the San Diego Children's Book Festival

Mary E. Coe
Driving to San Diego, we ran into some smog. That soon past, before we arrived into San Diego, the sun was shinning bright. The ride to San Diego was very pleasant, we took the 15 to the 805 and traffic was super light; making the trip to San Diego even better.

When we arrived at the festival; it was easy finding the Authorsden.com Booth; again I was greeted by the awesome and friendly Authorsden admin. staff. They were fantastic. They assisted with the set-up and a team of authorsden staff members helped pass out postcards, book marks, brochures and whatever we had to pass out.

For those of you who sent in books, they were on display in clear view and a lot of traffic came through the booth, lots of people were viewing your books. Authorsden staff members made sure your books got the same attention that the people signing books in the booth got. They were right there pointing out books to the public and bringing the people's attention to all books on display.

I didn't expect a great deal of traffic because the event was much smaller than the L. A. Times Festival of Books, I was wrong; I got a lot of traffic at my table. I was even approached by a buyer from the San Diego Library; who did the buying of books for the San Diego Library. Never know who you will meet at these events. The public got to meet top, award winning children authors and illustrators. It was an exciting event.

There were games, face painting, book reading, on stage dancing and entertainment, arts, crafts, giveaways, characters walking around and so much more. Five of my grandchildren and two of my daughters drove to San Diego with me. They had a wonderful time.

I, also, got to chat with authorsden member and author, L K Gardner Griffie, again. It's always such a pleasure to meet authors from the den in person. The day at the San Diego Children's Festival was a very good day.
