You wouldn't think that Brooklyn would be a hotbed of surfing, and well, you are right. But that doesn't mean that there aren't waves (I've recently written about it ) and there happens to be a great little surf shop on Kent Avenue in Williamsburg.

Mollusk Surf Shop is everything you'd expect from a surf shop that is set up right in the heart of hipster central, but that by no means detracts from its awesomeness.

Mollusk specializes in logs, fishes and generally any non-standard, cookie cutter Al Merrick design. They have boards from some of the great underground shapers like the Campbell Brothers who invented the bonzer and Tom Wegener who shapes some of the best Alaia boards on the planet.

They have the requisite crunchy surf gear that comes with hosting events for bands like The Japanese Motors , and I for one will be purchasing some fresh new duds the next time I am in there.

Mollusk is obviously a surf shop, but the quality and rarity of boards it has in stock makes it into almost a museum. It's worth checking out just to see some mind-blowing shapes and designs. Check them out and I guarantee it'll be worth the trip.
