A Tale of Car Trouble in a Strange City!

Auto Trouble While Traveling in New Jersey

Mazy Keller
Traveling anywhere away from home opens one up for auto trouble, with no where to go. Over the years this writer has been broke down and towed in to many dealers and auto repair shops. Meineke is a chain that is pretty good for general repairs, brakes, new tires, etc. Brake-O is another chain that is convenient and reliable for those aforementioned general needs. Dealerships always have service departments but seem to be quota based, just trying to make a dollar. Each time after being towed to the dealers I would be approached by sales people and 'advised' to purchase a new vehicle; -- I did not appreciate being pressured.

However, if you are ever anywhere near Elizabeth, New Jersey, (i.e. anywhere in New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania, downtown New York, or anywhere within reasonable towing distance) it's worth being towed to Mo's Auto Repair at 846 Spring Street, Elizabeth, NJ.

Twice, over two weeks I found myself stranded in the Elizabeth, New Jersey area for different problems with my over-the-hill vehicle. Both times my vehicle was stuck at a busy intersection and deader than a doornail, so to speak. Finding Mo's listed on my Garmin (Matilda) was the best thing that could have happened. Mo made arrangements for a tow into his shop both times and then gave me a discounted rate on the towing because repairs were done at his shop.

The second time I had auto trouble Mo sent out a mechanic to see if the problem was related to the first repair and could be fixed without me having to pay towing charges. Of course it had to be towed again (with Mo's discount!), and even though it was over Thanksgiving the repairs were completed with speed, putting me back on the road fast.

During my first vehicle repair transaction with Mo it was obvious that this is a garage full of caring individuals that put more than just time into their work. When I came to pick up my vehicle there was time for conversation with explanations given at length to help me understand just what had gone wrong with my auto.

Mo was also more than reasonable with charges. As I said above, I have had my vehicle towed many times for repairs and have a general idea what things should cost, and Mo was comfortably below my estimates.

Next, during the second contact with Mo and his staff I was again impressed with the speedy work and explanation of the problems my vehicle had. Mo's provided transportation for me the second time. The first time they arranged for my favorite rental company to pick me up at their shop as I needed immediate transportation. Oh! Mo never tried to talk me into purchasing a new vehicle, and never bad-mouthed my over-the-hill model!

So, in the future, anytime you are traveling through the Elizabeth, New Jersey area,-- which by the way is adjacent to the Newark Airport,-- always remember that when your auto sputters, Mo's Auto Repair on Spring Street is the shop to contact. Travel safe.
