The ACT test is given several times a year so to be able to get a good score, schedule the exam a few months in advance. This will give you more time to study. A longer period to study and review your lessons will improve one's chances of getting a high score. Go through all the lessons that have been covered by your high school curriculum.
It would also be a big help if you also studied advance lessons. This will prepare you just in case the ACT test covers some topics that have not yet been discussed in your class. You will not be grasping at straws if that happens because you have studied in advance.
Being organized will also help you in taking the ACT test. Set a time frame for each subject that you need to study on. For example, you have 8 weeks to study so you give each of the four subjects 2 weeks. It is not a good idea to jump from one subject to another when studying. This will be a confusing especially when you need to do a lot of memorization.
When reviewing for the ACT test it is more effective if you start with the topics that have been recently discussed in school and move backwards from there. The new lessons are still fresh in your mind so it is easier to remember them. If you review the old lessons last then by the time you take the ACT test, they will still be fresh in your mind. It will be easier for you to recall the answers.
To be better prepared for the ACT test, it will help if you take a mock exam before taking the actual test. When taking the mock exam, set a timer so that you know how long you took the exam. The actual ACT test is a timed test so you need to do answer all the questions within the time limit allowed. If it took you longer than the allotted time to answer the mock exam then you need to work on that. You need to be aware of the time while taking the test.
In taking the ACT test, you must answer the easy questions first and go back to the difficult ones later. You should not waste your time trying to figure out the answer to a difficult question. You should move on to the next question and go back to it later. By doing this, you will be able to answer more questions. If you spend too much time on the difficult questions, you might not be able to finish the test. This will greatly affect your final score.
The ACT test, just like any other test requires preparation. You need to prepare for it by studying hard. This test is important for all high school students who wish to go on to college and should be taken seriously. With hard work and perseverance, a high ACT test score is extremely possible.
