A Tearful Former Miss USA Claims TSA Violation

Once again controversy has emerged in regards to those invasive TSA airport pat-downs. A former Miss USA, Susie Castillo, said she recently left a Dallas, Texas airport checkpoint in tears after she felt violated by the invasive pat-down she received by the TSA officer. She said her pat-down by the TSA officer could be described as almost a form of molestation. Shortly after the incident she made an emotional video describing the incident.

According to reports, the former Miss USA had a choice of either going through a screening machine, which she said is unhealthy and dangerous, or going through the pat-down procedure. She chose the later of the two and ended up leaving the area in tears.

A TSA nullification bill had been filed in the Texas legislature last month that would ban full body scanners and make it a crime to perform invasive searches, but nothing has become of it to this date.

Miss Castillo is pleading to viewers to step up to the plate on this issue so new legislation can be passed in regards to these invasive body searches. She is also putting up a blog to raise more awareness about this issue and has reportedly filed a complaint with the police against that TSA officer.

Back in Jan. of this year, former Minnesota governor, Jesse Ventura, also filed a lawsuit in federal court in Minnesota against the Department of Homeland Security and the TSA in regards to this same type of situation. It's unclear where that lawsuit stands at this time.

The controversy seems to continue in regards to these airport security procedures. With the amount of terrorism that's plaguing the entire world, we need to have some sense of security when we're about to embark on an airplane, so to me, it seems like there is such a fine line as to what's too much and what's not enough airport security. Unfortunately I don't see this issue being resolved anytime soon.

I don't fly so I don't have a clue, but why only a few people complain? If it's invasive, shouldn't everyone be up in arms about it?

I guess I'd choose the scan over the pat-down, but I wouldn't be happy about it. What a shame it has come down to this.
