The month of August was one of those month's when as my baby daughter tells me "Dad it just sucks to be you." I had the Freakin' depression, bad attitude, and didn't give a hoot about anything. I produced a few articles but nothing real exciting and I ignored you folks my fellow writers. Last Friday morning I woke up and smelled the Columbian Coffee brewing. I remembered my old AA sponsor telling me over and over put the good foot in front of the prosthesis and do the next right thing and everything will be fine. My IN BOX had 755 e-mails from AC tellin' me of your sweat and labor being published. I did manage to read, comment, and delete everyone of those e-mails. Thank You for your patience. Thank many of you for your continued support.
Now about me. I was born February 26, 1951. Graduated High School in 1969 married the first time 1971 three children born in 1972, 1975, and 1977, found AA Aug 25, 1992, divorced in 1999, married the Queen Goddess November 20, 1999 I lost my leg after four surgeries attempting to save my foot in 2006. Now you have the time line for the important events almost. I forgot the four heart attacks and the ongoing battle with diabetes. When I look at this paragraph the depression is easier to understand.
OK the real me is a 5'9' 375 pound Teddy Bear that has an attitude that scares some folks. I have learned that when I feel some person, place or thing is the worse thing that could happen to a nice guy like me, I am wrong. God has a better plan and just hasn't told me what it is yet. I have learned I can bake, make pasta dishes, even chocolate fudge and don't have to taste it. Many of my local friends and family appreciate my recipes I write for you folks. My favorite Cookie Monster comments "I ate the first cookie to be polite, I ate the next six because they are so good."
Speaking of Teddy Bears. The Queen Goddess and I were married in a church that had a unique tradition. Every November the members would bring Teddy Bears to church to be filled with love at each service. The first week of December the Teddy Bears would be given to Children Services. These bears were used for children that needed a little special love (IE when they were removed form the parents home). Well I was afraid there wouldn't be enough Teddy Bears for a good Wedding Picture so I had 100 Teddy Bears delivered to the church the week before our wedding. You should have heard the church secretary... OOPS I forgot to tell her they were coming.
The picture of the Queen Goddess coming down the isle with every person in the church holding a large teddy Bear was unreal. We had a few babies that wanted to sing along with the vocalist (one of them was my eldest grandson). We did have a few surprise guests but most of all the church was filled with love. I'm not sure what we had to eat but everyone seemed to have a good time. The Youth Group was serving the food and as we left they handed us a plate of food for in the motel. I realized at that point I hadn't eaten anything and the Queen Goddess mentioned the same thing.
That was ten years ago and most days it seems like yesterday. I know the honeymoon will be another story in itself. Hopefully it will be written soon. Thanks for reading and leaving a comment. Mizpah. ;-}}>

Post a CommentI couldn't agree more with my sweet sister below!!! How terribly romantic and yummy!!!! Beautiful story!!!! How lucky are the two of you to have found true love?! I have finally found it as well, and believe it to be worth every ounce of heartache that led up to him standing at my door. Melt my heart...
First ...to hear a man speak of his woman and life partner as a Goddess...you are truly a man and I am so happy for you both and your children...inspires hope and faith in a time when people take each other for granted. This was the most amazing story and I want to do it for every birthday and holiday...how wonderful of a gift you give back to these children with the love that you and your family share. So glad you all are here and sharing your hearts and souls.
I enjoyed this love it!!!!
We have missed and are glad your back.
Thanks Al! There is so much more you didn't put in there, but it is great to hear that you and still kicking it. Next time I get down because

You're love and adored here at AC Alban! Just remember that.
Alban, you never cease to amaze me with your spirit.
Thanks Alban, I needed this. I have been thinking a little bit too much about me, lately. We will both write more, to help others and to give back what has been so freely given. Regards,
Picture number 2 didn't take. Sorry, enjoy the other three.
