A Teenage Girl Interviewing the Jonas Brothers

Jeff Musall
Dick Cheney is possibly the most despicable person to ever have held national office in America. A war criminal by definition and a liar by trade, he most definitely put the "vice" in vice president. Cheney's latest public display of misguided hubris came in the person of Chris Wallace, one of the Cracker-Jack reporters who call FOX News home.

While it's easy to describe Cheney as heinous, FOX News as trite right wing fluff, we live in a sound bite society. And as sound bites go, Andrew Sullivan, blogging at www.theatlantic.com , issued the best I've heard in a long time.

He wrote "Now look: there are softball interviews, and then there are interviews like this. It cannot be described as journalism in any fashion. Even as propaganda, which is its point, it doesn't work - because it's far too cloying and supportive of Cheney to be convincing to anyone outside of the true-believers."

Andrew Sullivan goes on to describe the interview as "A teenage girl interviewing the Jonas Brothers." Sound bites and one-line descriptions don't get any better.

Call FOX News Kool-Aid, call Chris Wallace a patsy, talk about the lunatic ravings of Beck and Hannity, or the silly home-spun theocracy of Mike Huckabee. But try as you may, you will never be able to come up with something that so succinctly sums up the essence of FOX News.

FOX apologists, you've been smacked upside the head with a big dose of humor and reality...A teenage girl interviewing the Jonas Brothers!

And the real problem is that any of the Jonas brothers would be able to give more insight into the geopolitical realities of contemporary American than Cheney. Cheney is so delusional that he should be trying to make money on a street corner by cleaning windshields of passing motorists. And the Jonas brothers aren't exactly an Einstein between them.
