A Three Day Trip to Erie, PA

Teresa (Tracey) Stanisha
Planning a trip to Erie, PA for three days is a great way to experience a weekend of fun. You don't have to go on a weekend, though, to have fun in Erie. Any day of the week is also a wonderful time in Erie, PA. There is plenty to do when you visit Erie, PA and here are some tips to get the most enjoyment out of your visit.

When you are packing your gear, make sure that you have a fully loaded picnic basket. You will also need a cooler. You should bring several changes of clothes, too. Bring clothing that will be good for the temperatures that you will be experiencing. Try to leave about mid-morning so that you can stop along the way to have a picnic at one of the rest stops along the trip. Pack some sandwiches and chips and take a break from the driving and enjoy a leisurely time.

In the spring and summer it is best to stay at a hotel near the Peninsula so that you can spend as much time on the beach as possible. During the fall and winter months a hotel near the casino is a better bet. Be sure to choose one that has an indoor pool so that you can enjoy some swim time when you go. Set no time constraints on what you plan to do, except that you need to be off the beaches when it gets dark. This will be at different times during the year.

Once you arrive in Erie, you should stop at Wendy's and order the dollar hamburger. You should put these in your cooler and you can heat them up after you stake out your picnic table on the beach. Then, you should enter the Peninsula area and find the table that you desire. In the cooler months, you should have your pick of them. In the summer, it might be more difficult to get the one you want, but there are plenty to choose from throughout the Peninsula. Setting up shop right away is the best way to do it. Fix the table with a cloth and take up all your beach gear. After you are all set up, enjoy the water for a while. Whenever you start to get hungry, make a fire in one of the grills and get ready to make your dinner. After you are done with the dinner pack up the car and take minimal things down to the water's edge. Stay there until the sun is setting and get some gorgeous pictures.

Depending on when you are visiting Erie, you can stop at Waldameer Amusement Park on the way to the hotel or in the cooler months you can head over to the Presque Isle Downs Casino and have some great fun. After you experience your night life head back to your hotel. In the morning, take advantage of the free breakfast and then pack up your cooler again and head back to the beach for another day of fun in the sun.

If you want to see the horse races at the casino you need to go during the warmer months. From May until September you can spend some time enjoying the fantastic races. If you are there in the colder months, there are movie theaters and other venues to spend some time in when you want to stay warm and be entertained, too. It is a good idea to get a good night's sleep so you are ready to check out of the hotel by the time that they require you, too. Once again, take advantage of the free breakfast, head on back to the beach for the third and final day. You can stay on the beach, or visit some other attractions in the area. You can leave whenever you like and get home at any time you desire.

A trip to Erie for three days is fun and relaxing. It is a great place for everyone. The young and the old will have a great time. It is free to enter the Peninsula and spend the day on the beach. The casino has free parking and shuttles will take you right to the door. The horse races, when in season are free, too. Admission to Waldameer Park, in season is also free. Erie has a lot to offer you, so pack your bags and get ready to spend three days in the area.
