A Time of Perfection: A Poem for the Autumnal Equinox

A Time of Perfection

Rachael A. Lund
As the heat of Summer wanes
and the cooler breezes of Autumn return
I sigh with satisfaction
this is what I've been waiting for
long days of blazing sun fading away
into shorter days of pleasurable temps
this is what I've longed for
anticipating the arrival
of when sun and moon
equally share the day
in a time of perfection
marking the beginning
of walks in the woods
while taking in the crimson and gold
of the oaks and maples that surround me
breathing deep of nature's musky fragrance
and watching grey squirrels scurry about
gathering food in preparation of settling in
before winter blankets their world in white crystal
these are my moments of refreshing
leaving the cares of life behind me
to embrace the solitude of Creation's beauty

Love this one. Fall and spring are my favorite seasons. Somthing about those transistions that appeal to poets I think.
