I always recommend that tourists first stop by the Gibisonville General Store. The Gibisonville General Store was established in 1881 and for well over one hundred years has served as the villages main shopping center. Step back in time in this historic building, where the locals meet up for morning coffee or an afternoon lunch. You will love the charming atmosphere as well as the delicious deli foods available for sale. You can buy hand made brooms, penny candies and all the necessities of life, except alcohol and gasoline. The store has been owned by just about everyone in the village at one time or another. This is one of those places that will delight you and encourage you to return to Gibisonville, Ohio.
You will also want to visit the old school, which now serves as the home of the Gibisonville Museum. This is a nice little museum that offers insight and memories of a time when Gibisonville was a center of activities for the surrounding areas. It is quite small and you will need to talk to the clerk on duty at the general Store to arrange a phone call for admission. Don't worry, it won't be too long of a wait, and it is well worth the ten or so minutes you will be left waiting to check out the treasures that lie within the Gibisonville Museum.
Shopping in Gibisonville is not limited to the Gibisonville General store, a short drive out State Route 678, five minutes or less from the General Store, offers a fantastically unique shopping experience at Ruby's Country Cupboard. At Ruby's Country Cupboard you will find crafts, hand poured candles, bulk foods and snacks as well as a small selection of camping gear, for the tourists who are pitching a tent in the beautiful area.
Hiking is great at Airplane Rock, located out Cream Ridge Road, just before the sign for the village of Gibisonville. You will love the serene setting and the opportunity to enjoy a vast wooded trail all to yourself. For some reason, unknown to me, Airplane Rock is one of the least visited hiking trails in the Hocking Hills. It is well worth the short, back road drive to experience the wonder of Airplane Rock.
Gibisonville is a very small village that is as charming as it is beautiful, I hope this guide helps you plan your day in Gibisonville Ohio.

Post a CommentI was reading your information. There is no longer a general store in Gibsonville. It is being converted to a house. My older sister years ago used to live near Gibisonville on Kreshbaum Road. She told me about the store. The Museum is still there so do you have any idea when the place is opened.
It's so AMAZING to see this. My ancestors created Gibisonville, Ohio. I just hope I get to see it someday.
