Laurelville, Ohio is a sleepy village set deep within the Hocking Hills region of southeastern Ohio. Laurelville is not a hot bed of activities, however if you are passing through the area, there are some really nice and charming things to do here. Most visitors stop in Laurelville for the annual fireman's festival in early July, but in my opinion the fall is the best season to visit Laurelville, Ohio. In this travel guide for Laurelville I will share some of the hidden gems of Laurelville with readers to help them plan their stay in Laurelville, Ohio.

It is important that visitors realize there is not a hotel or motel within the area for your lodging. However there are many bed and breakfasts and cabin rentals for your delight. This will be slightly more expensive but it will add to the experience of the Laurelville stay to enjoy such a lovely country setting complete with a lovely cabin set in the woods.

Things that everyone should experience in Laurelville include the areas fantastic craft shops, such as Ruby's Country Cupboard a short drive out State route 374 , as well as the unbelievable Christmas shoppe, which is open year round, is absolutely charming and a great way to pend a few hours. On Thompson ridge Road there is also a bird shop featuring exotic birds such as parrots.

Laurelville is home to the areas only Dollar Discount store, which is a renovated grocery store turned into a delight for cheapskates and bargain hunters. Everything in the shop is one dollar or less. The assortment of one dollar or less goods is amazing. It is impossible to leave Dollar Discount empty handed. Dollar Discount is the first shop you will encounter, asides from the national chain store Family Dollar. Dollar Discount is open daily, and is a great place to shop afforably with the kids, who will love the gigantic toy section.

Finally, stop by the Bower and daughters fruit company. You will find fresh apples, pears and peaches as well as goodies from the garden, and jellies and jams. The Bowers and daughters fruit company is housed in a charming old barn next door to the visitors center. If you are not looking to take home any fruit, you at least need to try the apple cider slushies. These are a mere fifty cents a cup, and are so unique and delicious you will consider returning to Laurelville, Ohio just to purchase a slushy. You will also want to ask for the sweet story behind the slushy machine.

Laurelville is a charming place to visit and relax, despite the lack of activities.

    Love this.

I did my extended travel as a single gal, and now am happy to dream about different destinations and organize our future trips according to how old I figure I want the kids to be when we get there.

I love how you've been able to connect with the local culture wherever you are. It's easy to do this when traveling with kids because I've realized that parenthood is a great equalizer. It doesn't matter if you are a television producer from Toronto or a waiter from Cuba, you worry about and are excited for your kids, and are happy to share stories about them to whoever'll listen. ;)
Farhan, by profession I am group transportation Driver so travelling is everything for me ;)

On our Vinton County Bank website they mention a Christmas in Laurelville on Dec. 12th. What activities are there? Is there a website we can look at? Thanks!
