A New Trend in Parties for Girls

Jamie Burke
Theme parties have become a big hit nationwide. Boys tend to like them, but for girls, it is just a fantasy come true. I did some research on different places to have these parties and I decided to focus on just three states: California, New York and Arkansas. Yes, I said Arkansas. Our local party store is what piqued my interest to begin with, so I have to include it.

In my town, Hot Springs, Arkansas, one of the most popular places for little girls to have their birthday parties is at "Pinkabella" in the Hot Springs Mall. You think, yuck, it's in a mall. But the minute you walk into the store, you'll forget where you are. It is everything girly, frilly and pink! It is the one place in town where a little girl can be whisked away and transformed into a magical fairy princess or a rough and tough rock star. It is the place to be if you are a little girl celebrating your birthday.

They offer several different party themes for girls ages 3 through 12: Pretty Princess, Fabulous Fairy, Perfectly Pinkalicious Party, Sparkling Spa, Dazzling Diva, Rock Star Royalty, Lavish Luan, and Posh Poodles. They will also soon be adding Girls Night Out Packages and Miss Priss Makeovers.

Some of the themes are self-explanatory, but some caught my attention. The Sparkling Spa package is one that would pamper the girls that are just too young for a regular spa. I remember when my daughter was little, she wanted to go to a spa with me one day and I had to tell her no simply because she wasn't old enough. With the Sparkling Spa package little girls won't be turned away from relaxing pampering.

Another one that I thought would be different is the Lavish Luan Package. This one has a tropical theme where they get to pretend they are in Hawaii and wear grass skirts and enjoy a tropical cuisine.

Prices at "Pinkabella" are pretty reasonable. Most start at $199 and go up from there. They also have a Pink Boutique where you can shop for your little princess or let her shop for herself. The boutique offers items for girls, babies and even for mommies to be.

Now let me take you out to the west coast to California. I found a place called "Kiss the Frog" in the San Fransisco area. They have a wide range of theme specific parties. The difference with them, is that they will come to you. For the girls, they offer themes such as Alice in Wonderland, American Girl, Garden Faeries, Harry Potter, Spa Party, Princess Belle, The Witches' Spell and Ballet Slippers.

They are also different in the fact that they have actors dressed up to play the specific roles. They offer tea parties, dress up clothes, even magic shows and potions classes. Their prices start at around $200 and go up from there. I did see some packages costing as much as $800. So it just depends on how much you want to spend and what you want to do to pamper and please your little girl.

Heading back across the U.S. to New York, I found "The Little Ladies Club" on Long Island. This one is more like "Pinkabella" where you go to their location. They are more limited on the parties they offer, but they do offer them for girls up to the age of sixteen.

For the little ones, they offer the Princess Party. With this one, they will get to dress up, have glitter put in their hair, lip gloss, and manicures along with a tea party and dancing. For the older ones, they offer Teen Queen parties. It will make your young teen feel more mature because it has a spa atmosphere. The girls will get manicures, pedicures, and their hair fixed in an up - do or really any style they'd like.

"The Little Ladies Club" is more up-town and distinguished. It also comes with a higher price tag. They start at $355 and go up from there.

I hope my article has given you an idea of something different to give to your little girl. It can be a great gift whether it is for birthday or for Christmas or even for no reason at all! Even if you don't live in one of the three areas I wrote about, I'm sure you can find a place near you.
