Gas prices are rising to the point of barley surviving and making any pay to make ends meat. With the government seemingly not caring or putting enough effort into addressing the issue, it does seem to be pushing to that direction. After all, there isn't as much travel as there used to be and it has something to do with the gas and oil prices going up. If that's not enough, look at all the items rising such as food and basic needs. The job security has really become fragile and to the point where you can be walking on eggshells hoping and praying that you don't get laid off so easily.
I can say for a fact that I do work at home at this moment. With the job market very slow and having very little available, this has become an option that could be more people getting involved by the year as we continue to evolve in a technological stance. While this seems to be somewhat of an infant stage and hasn't been completely explored, do not be surprised if it happens to become a trend and could be because of again prices rising higher. Sure, it will cut down the amount of travel and there are some flaws such as a computer breakdown but that's the risk you have to take if you are to get involved. Let's say a major company like Microsoft offering such a service and a resume submitted. It can be a phone interview depending on the location or could walk in for an appointment again all depending on location. I can honestly seem them getting into this market and you will be monitored in whether you are doing your job or not. If you are not, then you may be in trouble and possibly fired.
In short, we use the Internet today for email, Instant Messaging, and maybe some small jobs. As we move forward and look into the next year, companies will start to experiment more so with people working at the comfort of their own home. Sure, it could cause some jobs to decrease but then there would be an increase of jobs in another aspect. Look for this happen as we continue to a new year as gas, oil, and any basic needs will not let up and decrease in price.

Post a CommentI agree with everything you've said in this article. Great piece!
Great article! I've been working at home for about a decade now and I wouldn't change it for the world!
On the money here. Gas prices have everyone searching for home jobs or at least jobs closer to home.
My total income right now is from writing articles from home. I love it! Before this I was doing customer service from home. I think you are right that more and more people will start offering this option.
As gas prices rise, people will definitely work from home more often. Great article.
You are totally right Bruce. I think that more and more people are starting to work from home or telecommute as they call it in the workplace. I know my husband is trying to telecommute at least two days a week in the near future because of the high gas prices. I think his boss is actually thinking about letting him do it since his job is mostly done on the computer anyway.
