A Tribute to Dr. MaLinda P. Sapp
The Woman Behind Pastor Marvin Sapp's Song "Never Would Have Made It"
There was more to MaLinda Sapp than beauty and elegance; she was truly a woman of purpose. She was the Administrative Pastor at Lighthouse Full Life Center Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where her husband was pastor. MaLinda was a limited licensed psychologist, licensed professional counselor and also a college professor. MaLinda also founded and spearheaded several different programs not only benefiting the church, but the community as a whole. She served as her husband's manager and also his executive producer on several of his projects.
MaLinda was a very determined woman. I heard Pastor Marvin Sapp during a radio interview as he spoke of his wife. He told how he had lost three influential people in his life within a short period of time and one of them was his father. He went on to tell how his song "Never Would Have Made It" was birthed out of the pain of those losses. He did not want to record the song, but his wife insisted that he did. He told how he went into the studio to record it, but he had added something to it. When his wife heard the song she told him no, that was not right and he needed to go back into the studio and record it the right way. He did and placed it at #12 on his project, because he did not really think the song would have an impact. Wow! This song spent 47 weeks at the top of the American Gospel radio charts and even the secular charts. It is the longest running #1 radio single of any format. I'm so glad God allowed MaLinda to see the fruits.
Dr. MaLinda Sapp also leaves to cherish her memory three beautiful children Marvin II, Mikaila and Madison. She was truly a wife, mother and a woman of God. Pastor Marvin Sapp, she saw the best in you. Please keep this family lifted up in prayer.
