This is a typical discussion on AC:
I write an article expressing my opinion about Israel based on factual content and historical documentation and context and this is the replies my posts get, keeping in mind that 99% of AC is made up of Americans:
God gave that land to White, European Jews! Arabs are terrorists! Jew Hater! Shut up! Anti-Semite! The Bible is Gods Foreign Policy! All the Jews must live in Israel to bring on the Apocalypse! The End is near! Jesus is going to leave you behind at the Rapture! Arabs and Muslims are evil; they are working for the devil! Muslims are all religious extremists and terrorists! Kill them all! Muslims only understand violence! Invade! Attack! Kill! Die for Jesus! Kill Arabs and Muslims for Jesus! Jesus wants you to kill in His name! If you love America you will kill for Jesus! Jesus loves you only if you're white, American and Zionist Evangelical! Israel is the apple of Gods eye!
Me: Holy crap. These people are crazy.
This is the response I receive on my articles where the content is about the Middle East and Israel and America's foreign policy without expressing my opinion, simply putting the facts into context and displaying them in a methodical manner with the intention of supplying truth to combat the massive body of lies prevalent in public discourse:
Crickets.
The silence is deafening.
Can't argue and attack the facts but you can attack like a horde of crazed lunatics the person who uses the facts to express an opinion; the very act of expressing an opinion sends the loonies into a crazed tail spin of hysteria, mouth frothing religious hatred and an impressive amount of hypocrisy that one would have to be living in a mind space of zero to be blind to.
This is what I've been able to deduce; the facts are irrelevant to most Americans what matters is what your lying, criminal, terrorist religious and political leaders tell you to believe. Everything and everyone else is a threat that needs to be destroyed.
Me: Holy crap. These people are crazy.
The most amusing part of dealing with Americans on the topic of the Middle East is their accusations that Muslims are extremists and terrorists, while demanding that there is biblical prophecy to be fulfilled in Israel and the entire American foreign policy is based on this Apocalyptic lunacy and the only solution to anything is to invade, bomb, kill, rape and steal in the name of Jesus. It's actually funny in an insane clown sort of way.
This form of personal attacks is not limited to foreign policy, it extends to every topic under the sun and encompasses every form of writing and expression; one is not permitted to have different life experiences that have informed ones belief system. Everyone in the world is expected to believe exactly what America and Americans tell us is acceptable because they're the Holy Rulers of the World.
Resistance is terrorism and disagreement is hate; hating of Jews, hating of America, Arab terrorists, Muslim terrorists. To make matters worse, Americans who behave in this manner believe they are the voice of reason which guarantees every conversation becomes a wrestling match to the death because they're the good guys and they will attack you until you scream uncle and admit they're right about everything. It's all become really more than I can stomach because when one is under perpetual attack, the only option is attacking in self-defence which then prompts the loonies to increase their attack and soon the entire conversation has spiralled into name calling and false accusations and threats; Americans on AC like to make threats, it makes them feel big and strong.
It has become clear that every conversation with most Americans is a dual for them to arrogantly prove they are right and good and valiant and freedom fighters and Christian and the rest of the world is wrong, evil, terrorists and heathen worthy of death.
Me: Holy crap. These people are crazy.

Post a CommentWow. I was amazed by the first response because I'm pretty sure the Jews don't believe in Jesus as the son of God. It's not right for people to attack you for your opinion, but you must also understand that facts must be presented in an unbiased fashion, with all sides of the arguement exposed, in order for it to appear unopinionated; however, there is no such thing as unopinionated.
RJT:
I have to agree with Justice Lives Not with his commentary. Yes, I am an American. Yes, I am a Christian. But a great many Christians admit that many, many mistakes have been made in the past in sometimes our government's unconditional suppport of Israel. But then again, I take it you are Canadian. And Great Britain actually is the nation (the allies) after World War II that was the primary force behind the decision to establish and relocate most of the European Jews who had been displaced to Israel. So, it ain't just America that has made some poort foreign policy decisions since. My difficulty now is that the U.S. has even armed Israel to the teeth, and the Jewish Israel people are now more than capable of defending themselves with all the fire power the U.S. has contributed over the years since World War II. It is time for the U.S. to be more concerned with it's own borders, and not primarily Israels, in most of the true AMERICANS who put America first.
I gotta say, you do tell the truth about how some of these wackos attack someone who tells them things they don't wanna hear. However, just two things real quick: first, I sincerely hope that you and other readers do not think that even a SLIM majority of Christians think this way. These weirdos are the ABBERATION! Sometimes, I think certain people (esp. on AC) take the absolute worst of our creed, and hold them up to the world and say "Hey, everyone! These kooks are what ALL Christians are like!". Second, many Liberals (esp. on AC) are every bit as brutal, often moreso, than the Conservatives when bashing their adversaries (I have been called some pretty rotten names by folks who really know nothing about me!) I know some good Arab people here in TN, and it breaks my heart when some bastard starts that "sand nigger" crap, because they're so sure that all Arabs are terrorists. So surely, you all must know that the Christian kooks represent less than 1% of our Faith. Thank you.
Obviously, I'm not well educated, I can't spell controversial. (LOL). Read several of your articles. You can't get mad about the comments when you are antagonizing. If you don't mean to be sit back and read your articles. Hatred or maybe anger seeps through the words. Most of us who aren't angry people are going to read and not comment or just say good job.
Interesting article. I am checking out the rest of them. Any time you write something political it is going to be contreversial. I don't know where you are finding these people that are not only closed minded but also uneducated. Maybe it's just your topics. If you write about things people think are close to their heart they comment and opinion gets in the way of mind.
Dear RJT, the Palestinian point of view is about the only one that is presented by the media here. There are unending reports about Palestinians being killed or wronged, but very, very little about the daily rocket attacks from the Gaza strip. Do you even know that they happen? Do you care? Jews, despite what some people think, bleed like the rest of us. The fact remains in Israel that Arabs and Muslims can become citizens of Israel. And elections are held, and the rule of law is the standard. Please, please, please tell me which Arab or Middle Eastern state is the same? If Israel disappeared tomorrow, the Palestinians would still not be welcome in Jordan, Egypt or Syria. No doubt the vacuum of the vanished state of Israel would be filled by one of those countries, none of which have a stellar track record of sympathy towards the Palestinians. To those who oppose the Jewish state, I only ask, "What is your final solution?"
Great article; educated, realistic, and definitely intelligent! Glad that I stopped by today. ~~Catdog
If you think people that respond here are bad, you should check how people comment on AOL when there's news about all-things-political. Overall I thought this piece that you wrote does have a level of sincerity and truth as I have witnessed the same as a New Yorker. People are led along by Murdoch's little monsters, FOX and NY Post. People from there would like to criticize MSNBC and NY Times but there is reason as to why NY Times and guys like Keith Olbermann are given respect and attention--because they don't sound very tabloid-ish although Olbermann can sound that way every time Bush is thrown in the mix.
By the way, what is the "typical Canadian or English or Mexican" conversation about things? Why is it that those who profess to be open minded and tolerant about many subjects will be the first to stereotype about the sexes, first to see color in a person, first to assume something about one nationality or another, the first to label a dissenting opinion as "hate speech"? That's a questions that never gets answered by most I ask it to.
I think you didn't mention my responses to your articles. I wonder sometimes about the sweeping generalizations that are made, such as israel being a "vile" nation, etc., and the one sided reporting about only Palestinians being the only wronged party. The Middle East situation is much more complicated than the presence of Israel. Remove Israel as a nation and not much with change amongst its neighbors, save the fact that the ONE STABLE DEMOCRACY within the region will disappear, along with its multi ethnic population of Jews and Arabs that have managed to prosper (with full rights) within its borders. The anti Jewish sentiment that has a certain vogue now amongst many is a dangerous slope to be sledding on. But the world must have its scapegoats. Maybe your responses would be better if the facts you report, which are facts, are supplemented by just as real facts regarding the Jewish state. Shalom.
