Overall objectives: To teach students all 44 presidents of the United States and basic information facts on the state of Georgia.

Developmental Goals: To begin and complete the formal study of the United States Presidents and basic information on the state of Georgia.

Number of Weeks: 9

Objective standards:

  1. Students will be able to state all 44 presidents by first and last name
  2. Students will be able to state president's term and party
  3. Students will be able to explain the basic information facts for the state of Georgia

Assessments:

  1. Jeopardy Review Game-weekly on Fridays
  2. Review Test bi-weekly on Fridays, last 2week session over the whole unit

Materials needed:

Map of Georgia, Pictures of all 44 presidents, social studies text book, audio visuals, state flag, Crayons, markers, Art paper, White board and dry erase markers

Weekly Plans

Week 1: Introduction to Georgia and USA Presidents: Objective /Standard: Introduce students to the 44 presidents of the USA; begin focus on presidents in groups of six with an additional two in the fifth week.

Introduce Georgia as the last of the thirteen colonies to be founded in USA. Focus on the capitol and state motto.

Assessment: Jeopardy game review where a series of answers will be given and students must respond with a question to give correct response. Students will be equally separated into two groups for teams. Each correct answer merits points and the team with the most points has a chance at 10 bonus points toward the weekly quiz/test given regarding the lesson. While playing students will write Q&A's to help them study for test/quiz.

EX. Answer given- Wisdom Justice and Moderation...

Correct response- What is Georgia's state motto?

Students will be given weekly homework assignments to correlate lessons learned in class

Week 2: Terms and nicknames: Objective/Standard:teach students about Presidents 1-6 introduce with term served, party and first & last name.

Georgia-focus on state flag and Nickname (Peach state)
