I checked it out on-line via Vacation Rentals By Owner (VRBO.com). Over the winter I had several e-mails with one of the owners of this vacation rental home. He answered all of my many questions. He also said it is an easy ride to get to the home, not like our last experience with the very narrow and winding gravel roads.
We chose early May because the weather would be perfect, not sizzling hot, but warm enough to enjoy being out by the fast moving creek. We had not visited McCaysville in previous trips, so we had a new set of shops and stores to check out. After the devastating tornadoes that hit our area the week before, it was nice to get away and not think about the destruction, at least for a few days.
The rental has a maser bedroom and bath, two guest bedrooms and a guest bath. There is a very large living room with a huge sectional sofa, a TV. There is a lot of tile flooring, which helps to keep it cool.
There is a dining room, which is very large, with French doors to the deck, facing the creek. There is another eating area and a small, but functional kitchen. The bonus room is a great place for kids or teens to hang out. It has a small TV, two sofas and a game table and another set of French doors to a side deck.
To get to the creek you can go through the French doors to the deck and down a few steps, or walk down the driveway. The creek is across an open grassy area. There are two driveways, so if you have more than one vehicle there is enough parking to go around. The house is almost at the end of a dead-end lane, so you won't have traffic driving by! It was very peaceful, secluded and quiet.
This house would make a great family reunion spot. Three couples or two couples with kids could easily be comfortable here. There is enough decking for entertaining. There are swings and rockers and a BBQ grill.
There is a washer and dryer for your use. There are lots of closets to stash away your luggage. There are lots towels and sheets that you won't run out. There are enough of dishes, pots, pans and utensils to cook dinner for a small army. Everything is provided, included paper products. If you do run out of supplies, in Georgia there is an IGA Food store in McCaysville, and Ingles and Food Lion in Blue Ridge, or a Piggly Wiggly in Ducktown , Tennessee .
The owner, Barry, has been extremely helpful in answering all my questions. Click here to visit the VRBO listing to read more about his rental house including pricing. It is very reasonably priced, and well worth the money. Did I forget to mention that this vacation rental home is pet friendly?
Be sure to visit Christy Lee's or Pete's Place in Blue Ridge for dinner. You won't be disappointed in either choice. Our second visit to Christy Lee's was our dinner location last night, for the Prime Rib Special - excellent! There are many shops in Blue Ridge and I highly recommend the Chocolate Express for some tempting fudge or delicious chocolates.
We are off to a local restaurant for dinner, a new place for us. I'll let you know how it is! .
