Chocolate Brownie Truffle Ingredients:
1 tub of chocolate Cool Whip
1 tub of mini-brownies (found in the bakery department at your local grocery store. You can always make your own if you prefer)
1 package of instant chocolate pudding
2 pounds of raspberries
Preparation for your Valentine's Day dessert:
Prepare the brownies or cut-up premade mini-brownies in halves
Make instant chocolate pudding
Wash raspberries and pat dry
Putting your chocolate brownie truffle together:
This dessert looks the prettiest in a clear trifle bowl - you know the kind that have a pedestal under them raising them up? It's preferable to use a trifle bowl, but you can always put it in dessert dishes or another large type of serving bowl.
Layer the bottom of your trifle bowl with a thin layer of chocolate pudding.
Add a thin layer of brownies starting with the outer ridges of the trifle bowl making sure they can be seen (you want your honey to know what's in the dish!) Then fill in the middle with brownies, completely covering the pudding.
Add a pretty thick layer of Cool Whip.
Add a layer of raspberries. You may want to just fill in the outer edge so they can be seen rather than completely covering the layer of Cool Whip since raspberries can be a little expensive. Fill it all in if you an excess amount.
Repeat these layers until you run out of trifle bowl or ingredients! Whichever comes first!
Add on top of your last layer of Cool Whip, raspberries in the shape of a heart.
Variations on the Chocolate Brownie Trifle:
Use regular Cool Whip instead of chocolate Cool Whip
Use strawberries or bananas instead of raspberries
Trying a sweeter version of the chocolate pudding like double chocolate or Oreo pudding.
Valentine's Day Trifle for the Non-chocolate lover:
Make a strawberry shortcake version of the chocolate brownie truffle using pound cake instead of brownies and regular Cool Whip instead of chocolate Cool Whip.
Other variations:
For the top layer, instead of finishing with fruit, add your favorite candy like crushed snickers, M&M's or even crushed Oreo cookies. Add it throughout your Valentine's Day dessert if desired.
Enjoy!
