A Valentine's Day Poem for People Who've Been Together Forever

Pattie Byrd
The first married years I got candy and a card.
The next decade I got a walk in the yard.

Then there were the years out to dinner we went.
But over the next set of years he said he was too spent.

After several more years of reminders and hints,
I realized all this stuff wasn't making a dent.

After 30 or so years he looked at me blankly.
It was then that I turned and spoke to him frankly.

The last several years he lovingly says,
"Just exactly what do you want, Dear, for Valentine's Day?"

"Not much," I reply and smile sweetly to his face.
"Just a little reminder of why I married you in the first place."

We always just have a nice dinner at home and spend the evening together. Same as tonight - he is on the phone and I am on the computer- we are so romantic. HAHA!

Excellent - Pretty much like it is at our house - After 49 years you just kinda know what to expect - However, he would give me anything I wanted.

Pattie, this is so true, after over 45 years of marriage, just to have him still with me is enough and I still get the tingle when he comes home from work!
