Materials:
1 2 by 9 inch piece of red card stock (for bookmark strip)
3 1 ½ inch by 2 inch photos
1 Sheet of white construction paper
1 Sheets of yellow construction paper (for my valentine back label; also heart alternative for men)
1 Sheet of pink construction paper
1 Hole punch
1 Piece of ribbon
Scissors
Alphabet stencils
1 Glue stick
1 Pencil
Step 1: Put a hole near the top center of your red card stock strip using the hole punch. This strip will be used as the main foundation for your entire Valentine's Day photo bookmark craft project. Trim three photos of your significant other using scissors, until they are each 1 ½ by 2 inches in size. You can also scan your selected photos into a computer, re-size them to match these dimensions and then print them out on photo paper or multipurpose paper. Glue each photo to your white construction paper and then draw a ¼ inch border around these photos using the pencil.
Step 2: Cut out your photos from the construction paper using scissors. They should now have a small border surrounding all edges. Center one photo each on the top, middle and bottom sections of your red card stock strip. Adjust their positions if necessary, to keep an adequate amount of space between each photo, including their borders. Secure your photos in place on the red card stock strip using the glue stick, once you are satisfied with their arrangement.
Step 3: Draw tiny ½ inch hearts on the pink construction paper and then cut them out. You can also create instant heart shapes by folding the construction paper in half and then cutting hearts out along the folded line. Continue until you have five heart shapes and then set them aside. Men participating in this Valentine's Day photo bookmark craft project can also substitute the pink construction paper with an extra sheet of yellow paper, if desired. Trace letters spelling the phrase, "My Valentine" onto the yellow construction paper using alphabet stencils and a pencil.
Alphabet stencils can also be printed from a computer using word processing software or photos of alphabet letters from the Internet.
Step 4: Cut the letters out using scissors and then glue them in order on the back of your red card stock strip. Glue one of your pink heart shape cut-outs at the end of your phrase, next the "e". Repeat this step by gluing a second pink heart shape at the beginning of your phrase, next to the "V". Turn your red card stock strip over and glue one pink heart shape to the bottom right or left corner of each photo. Tie the piece of ribbon through the hole on your red strip to complete this Valentine's photo bookmark craft project.
Repeat each step to create another photo booth styled bookmark for your husband, boyfriend, wife or girlfriend. This craft project can also be used by both of you to each make your own bookmarks at the same time, spending time together on a fun activity in the name of love!
