A Vanilla Fanatic's Favorite Sugary Scented Products

I'm going to admit it: I am absolutely one hundred and forty percent obsessed with anything and everything vanilla scented. Call it a manifestation of a childhood love of cupcakes and candies or call it a grown up girly affection, but I have reached inner bliss when my bedroom, hair, and even mouth smell like a sugary vanilla paradise. As a tried and true vanilla fanatic, I have sampled just about every vanilla scented product from dollar, drug, and department stores. Here are some of my all time favourites, a sampling of reviews that is sure to aid in your quest for a more delicious smelling existence.

Bath and Body Works Warm Vanilla Sugar Shampoo and Conditioner

The Bath and Body Works Warm Vanilla Sugar line is absolutely fabulous (save for the perfume, which is a pinch too strong. I suggest the Black Rasberry and Vanilla version instead), but the stand-out favorite for me definitely has to be the shampoo and conditioner set. Soft and luxurious, this set not only made my hair feel baby fine and super moisturized, but left my mane smelling as if I'd been cooped up in a kitchen baking angel food cake all day. For salon snobs, don't fret: the shampoo packs a huge punch of nourishing moisture in addition to boasting a yummy scent. The set is priced at just under ten dollars for the shampoo and conditioner separately, but every time I've returned to a Bath and Body Works to repurchase, the hair care line has almost always had a two for one special. Yummy!

Renuzit Cozy Vanilla Sugar Home Spray

Vanilla scented candles and room sprays are a hard item to get right - many products either have a sickly sweet fake smell, or others have no long lasting smells at all. I struck gold when I picked this spray up at a Big Lots for just over one dollar. This room spray masked my apartment's pet and cigarette odours after numerous visits from varying house guests, and created a lovely subtle yet pleasantly noticeable aroma. The scent from this lovely room spray is indiscernible from pricier home scents such as the Buttercream line from Yankee Candle. Having a beautifully scented abode for a fraction of the price? Delicious!

Crest Whitening Expressions in Vanilla Mint

How silly it is to think that you can fight cavities with vanilla, which can often be the cause of cavities! All joking aside, this toothpaste is my holy grail of oral care. An anti-cavity toothpaste with fluoride, the vanilla mint flavour left me with a super fresh feeling after brushing. And like the rest of Crest's Whitening Expressions line, I was able to see a noticeably pearlier smile after about a week and a half of twice a day use. The Vanilla Mint flavour tastes great, and leaves you with minty breath that has a very subtle hint of vanilla. This toothpaste is great, and available for just around four dollars at any drugstore.

Curious by Britney Spears

These days, there aren't many nice things to say about poor Britney Spears, America's fallen pop star. Regardless, I absolutely love her debut scent, now available discounted at drugstores like Walgreens or CVS. This perfume is extremely subtle with a great vanilla smell, that isn't very sugary and accented by a slight floral undertone. I have actually layered other perfumes on top of this one, as it is so light. It would make a great first time perfume for a young woman. I also highly suggest the body wash and lotion. Curious by Britney Spears is a great buy for vanilla fanatics who like their products to be light and not overpowering.

Hopefully you found this list of my favourite vanilla scented products useful. Some may like super sugary scents like Bath and Body Works Warm Vanilla Sugar, and some may like more subtle versions like Britney Spears' Curious. My advice is to experiment and see what's right for you. Some may like to use a full on vanilla scented perfume; for others, the best bet to get a more gentle vanilla fix is something as simple as a Vanilla Mint toothpaste... or just a cupcake!
