Have a very creative and easy dinner party during the Holidays. Serve dinner on the floor. First of all , tell your guests to dress very casually for sitting on the floor. People tend to relax and enjoy themselves in a very casual atmosphere, and will love plopping down on the floor with shoes off to enjoy a great meal.
Set up the Floor
Set up a large sheet on your floor whether carpeted, tile or wood. Set pillows around for those who want a little cushioning. Set paper plates around the table and plastic wine glasses. Include forks. You will not need knives for this dinner Have extra napkins around for the guests.
Menu
Have several pounds of unpeeled shrimp, cut up veggies a and hot sourdough bread. Have bowls set up to collect the shells. Make several sauces to include: cocktail, sour cream with spices, curry sauce and vinaigrette. Select good dipping veggies such as: cucumbers, carrots, broccoli crowns, cauliflower, celery and asparagus. Have small bowls filled with olive oil, garllic, pepper and parmesan cheese to dip the sourdough bread. Serve both red and white wine, beer along with sparkling water for those not wishing to drink alcohol.
This meal works well for your vegetarian friends with the assortment of vegetables.
For dessert bring out platters of fresh fruit and cookies to pass around.
