A Very Retro Christmas

Holiday Cards from the Days of Old

Michelle K. Miller
Christmas cards these days feature trees, ornaments and angels, nativity scenes and gingerbread men, to candy canes and Christmas gifts. These are all typical scenes on the front of Christmas cards. Chances are, there are people who want to toss up things and be different. Every Christmas, people get thousands, even millions of the same Christmas cards. This season, be the one to be creative. Do you love the 50s and 60s? Do the thoughts of Elvis and drive-ins make you smile? Then this year, perhaps you should think of sending retro Christmas cards!

Here are a few places to obtain these unique cards:

1. What's Buzzin?: I stumbled upon this site, expecting not to find much, since it was a simple little site. However, i found quite the opposite. There is a large collection of cards within four different genres: snapshots, tropical, illustrated, and fashion statements. I was impressed with this site, and I highly recommend it.

2. Amazon: There aren't too terribly many on Amazon, but I found a handful amongst other items on here. I especially love the "Cheesy Christmas photo" captioned one with the kid on Santa's lap. It's retro, funny, and cute!

3. eBay: I dug a little deeper, and I not only found retro, but also vintage Christmas cards from the 50s, 60s, and 70s. Wow! What a find!

4. One Horse Shy: This website features a nice variety of retro Christmas cards from simple and classy, to humorous.

5. Greeting Card Universe: I liked these cards, because while they are retro, they look like they have a modern touch on them, and are way more colorful than most retro cards.

So if you want to say "Happy Holidays" with a retro flair, try some of these websites to purchase great cards that are guaranteed a smile!
