There are many site seeing beautiful spots situated all along the shore of River Narmada in the State of Madhya Pradesh in India. One such rare and most scenic spot is Bhedaghat, which is situated near the city of Jabalpur in India. Thousands of tourists come here from all over India and abroad to enjoy the scenic beauty of River Narmada at Bhedaghat.

Jabalpur is well connected by air, railway, and road from all the major cities of India. There is a direct express train leaving from Mumbai at around 2 p.m. and reaching Jabalpur at around 8 a.m. the next day. This rail journey is very comfortable in an air conditioned class and is the best option to reach Coimbtore. There are many good hotels available at Jabalpur for the tourists like Hotel King International, Hotel Narmada, Hotel Swagat, Hotel Royal Palace, and the State government guest house. These hotels normally charge around Rs.1800 ($40) per day for a nice double room. Such hotels have in-house restaurants that serve most of the Indian food delicacies. We had stayed at Hotel Swagat and really enjoyed our stay there. It is very near to the main city area and offers good facilities.

The marble rocks situated all around the River Narmada at Bhedaghat are the most important spot to be visited. It is around 13 miles away from the city of Jabalpur. The milky white marble rocks having height of around 100 feet on both sides of the River Narmada offer a great view to all the tourists, particularly on full moon nights. There is also a facility for boating in the River Narmada during the months from November to May. This boating experience is really unique and should not be missed. The charges for boating of around two hours are around Rs.500 ($12) for a four sitter rowing boat. The tourists must prefer to undertake boating at night hours to enjoy the beautiful view of white marble rocks in the black background of night. Recently, the light decorations also have been made here at Bhedaghat by the State government.

The temple of sixty four goddesses is the next place to be visited here. This ancient temple is situated on the top of a small hill. This temple was built in tenth century and is dedicated to Durga Mata. The view of River Narmada flowing below with white marble rocks on both sides from this temple is really breathtaking. As per the belief of the local people, one underground tunnel goes from below this temple to the palace of queen Durgavati in the city of Jabalpur. The Dhuandhar falls is the next place that must be visited. The River Narmada falls from the top of the rocks in the form of a fall. This free fall creates lot of fog all around it and presents the most scenic view to all the tourists. The sound of this water fall can be heard from a distance of around 10 miles. The visit to this fall in winter really provides an absorbing beautiful view. There are many near by places that can be visited by the tourists in case they have time. Mandal is one such place that is situated at around 58 miles away from Jabalpur. The historic fort of Mandal is really worth seeing. The Lord Shiva temple of Roopnath is the next outing that can be done by the tourists. This ancient Lord Shiva temple is situated at around 45 miles away from Jabalpur. The Lord Shiva lingam is placed between the two sharp valleys here at this temple. The Kanha National Park - Tigers Reserve is situated at around 100 miles away from Jabalpur. The visitors come here to view the wild tigers moving freely in the forest. This tigers reserve complex offers nice wooden log huts to the tourists.

As can be seen, the city of Jabalpur offers some great site seeing places for all the tourists. Hence, the number of tourists visiting Bhedaghat/Jabalpur keeps on increasing every year. The Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board also helps in encouraging tourists to visit this rare spot by adding new facilities here at Bhedaghat. I am quiet confident that this article shall encourage many of my AC friends and readers to visit this unique site seeing place of Bhedaghat in India.
