Located approximately 70 miles south of Denver, Colorado Springs is the perfect destination for a weekend getaway or vacation. The city is located at the southern end of the growing Colorado front range urban corridor. Colorado Springs is close to many natural attractions in addition to the amenities of a major city. This guide offers recommendations for activities in the Colorado Springs area. I hope you enjoy your trip!

Cave of the Winds - Located outside of Manitou Springs, this attraction has been bringing in tourists since the 1800s. It may even be the cave of local Native American legend where the Great Spirit of the Wind lived.

Garden of the Gods - If you like spectacular rock formations, then this is a must see attraction on your vacation. The beautiful red rocks provide the perfect background for a nice stroll through the park. Be sure to bring your camera!

Pike's Peak - If you do not mind driving about an hour on your vacation, then you should visit this majestic Colorado peak. Enjoy a a scenic train ride to the top, and visit the gift shop located there. On the way you might catch a glimpse of bighorn sheep in their natural environment.

Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame and Museum of the American Cowboy - If you are interested in cowboys and/or rodeos, you might want to check out this attraction. Here you can see a collection of memorabilia from the greatest rodeo cowboys of all-time. You might even get to meet some of the animals that turned these cowboys into legends.

United States Air Force Academy - Colorado Springs is home to one of five U.S. service academies. Here, cadets are trained to become officers in the U.S. Air Force. Stop in to take a tour of the grounds and the world famous cadet chapel. The interior is as impressive as the beautiful exterior with the Rocky Mountain background. If you are in town during college football season, take in a Falcons game where you will most likely get to experience a fly-over by one of the Air Force's numerous planes.
