Are you looking for some suggestions on how to spend your weekend in Chicago? Here is a list of some of the interesting places to see in Chicago. You may want to purchase a guide to Chicago and make your own itinerary. The best experiences are those you create and while you can use these as guidelines, I encourage you to visit the places that interest you.
The Field Museum of Natural History. This was one of my favorite stops during my stay in Chicago and no guide to Chicago would be complete without it. Some exhibits are always there, others make a special appearance. Exhibits include a complete Tyrannosaurus rex fossil, Ancient Egyptian artifacts, man eating lions, and more.
Little Italy - Eating in Chicago. I love Italian food. Little Italy is a haven of authentic Italian restaurants. I went the day before the marathon, and each place was filled with hungry runners. It's fun to go from place to place looking at the menus and finally choosing one that suits your fancy. Check your guide to Chicago for more detail on specific restaurants.
Navy Pier. Originally constructed during World War I, the Navy Pier is currently a haven for various tourist spots including the Crystal Garden's, Chicago Children's Museum, the 3-D IMAX Theater and the Chicago Shakespeare Theater. It is also a popular spot for conventions and fairs.
The Magnificent Mile- Shopping in Chicago. For those who love to shop, the Magnificent Mile will undoubtedly be the highlight of a trip to Chicago. Located as part of Michigan Avenue, this shopping district is home to many well known shops such as Neiman Marcus and Lord & Taylor as well as smaller boutiques and shops. Check your chosen guide to Chicago for more detailed information on the shops.
Chicago Nightlife. Chicago has a lively nightlife scene. Whether you want a neighborhood bar or something a little classier, Chicago can accommodate. Also, don't forget about the blues. There are plenty of blues bars in town. If you do decide to explore the nightlife keep in mind that not every neighborhood is friendly and worth a visit. Consult your guide to Chicago for a more complete list of your Chicago nightlife possibilities.
