If the amendment were written in modern language according to the intent of our founders, it might read: "A well maintained populace of honest, armed citizens is necessary for the security of a free society, and therefore, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."
YES! I love it, but liberals will disagree with this, because they already have a false interpretation established in their minds.
There is a concern on the part of some individuals that a "well-regulated militia" means "the military," even though "the people" elucidates the amendment and indicates that it is not. The latter actually clarifies the former and eliminates any possibility for a misinterpretation.
The founders did not trust the government to have the sole means of force, and this is why the Bill of Rights was written. They were actually fearful of the tendency of governments to become tyrannical. Although militias and the military both can both provide for defense, they are not quite the same. Civilians thus have a right to keep and bear weapons as a means of protection.
Two Important Points:
1. The 2nd Amendment is a part of the Bill of Rights.
2. The Bill of Rights was written EXCLUSIVELY for the benefit the PEOPLE, and it had nothing to do with military or the government in general. The fact that this is true prevents misinterpretation of the amendment and insures that right of the people to keep and bear arms remains intact.
Criminals will Always be Armed: It is critical to realize that the criminal element will always be armed, and they'll either acquire guns by legal or illegal methods. It is important for all decent, law-abiding citizens to exercise, or at least understand their right.
Rights Jeopardized: Some will always be seeking to take the rights of the people away. In the case of the 2nd Amendment, fathers and mothers won't be able to protect themselves or their loved ones if the gun grabbers and rights eliminators are successful. Simultaneously, the balance of power will be shifted 100 per cent to the criminals.
Hitler Originated Gun Control: One of the first agendas Adolph Hitler imposed when rising to power was gun control. This was brought about to seize control over honest citizens. Most liberal gun control laws contain wordage and intent that is strikingly similar to Nazi law.
Black Slaves Couldn't Own Guns: The 2nd Amendment is about freedom. Black slaves in the old South were not allowed to own firearms. The Right to Keep and Bear Arms is unique to free people. Those who want to destroy this right are on the level of slave owners, racists or oppressors.
Founders Foresaw Rights Jeopardized: Our founders understood the complex array of dangers that could arise, and that there would be threats against the rights of the people. This is why the 2nd Amendment exists. It does not provide for a military, and that is not why "a well regulated militia" appears.
A God-Given, Self-Evident Right: Self protection is a God-given right and it is backed by the Constitution. All people who have basic sense are able to comprehend this, but the 2nd Amendment is necessary to protect our rights from those who lack understanding.
"Fat chance" that much of this is being taught in schools. Most educators are conveying that "the militia is the military" or they're presenting it as questionable, while focusing upon dates and signatures.

Post a CommentTo poster "GeorgeWashington": There is no arguing against being qualified to operate any piece of machinery, including a car. So what is the point you're trying to make? Training classes? They already exist in great numbers and most honest people attend them, even though criminals rarely do.
The distinction between a well-regulated army and a mob is the good order and discipline of the first, and the licentious and disorderly behavior of the latter. It takes more than simple gun ownership and good intentions to meet the criteria of the 2nd amendment. At least according to the "founding father" old George himself.
