A holiday ski trip in California can be the most magical experience of the season. A trip to Yosemite's Badger Pass and Tenaya Lodge can open-up varieties of winter fun. The National Park is a great place to play outdoors in real snow. The official season will begin in mid December and continue until mid March. This great historical American adventure is just a four hour drive from San Francisco. On-line trip planning can help you pick the right sites to visit and the activities to go along with sliding down the slopes.

The history of Yosemite can be an intriguing reason to visit and enjoy the many reserved lands for winter sports. Three important names to remember around the park are those men who began the stabilization of grounds. One of them was Indian chef who helped and protected his people under attack during the Mariposa war of 1851, Chef Tenaya. Another is John Muir, the man who first discovered the land which was later protected under federal laws. Lastly it was Lafayette Bunnel, a physician with the Army, who has been accomplished in giving the park its name along with other sites inside of it. It is these figures who have shaped traditions and laid the foundations of what is known as the Tenaya Ski Lodge at Badger Pass.

With some annual events taking place during holiday celebrating, the park is alive with white snow. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the opening of California's first ski school. Up on Badger Pass a special package can be reserved with your interests in mind. Just learning how to ski? There's a package for that or for young skiers too. The booking is covered from Sunday to Thursday. Added extras like the spa are an additional cost. For more information on booking a package go to: www.tenayalodge.com or call 1-888-514-2167.

Over 3.7 million people visit Yosemite each year. Taking a hike in snow shoes or riding along the Sugar Pine railroad can help you see more of the park itself. Tour buses can take tourist out to Glacier Point when the roads stay open. Currently most of the roads inside the park are closed. For this and other helpful information on planning your trip go to www.nps.gov, or call (209) 372-0200. Enter "Yosemite" into the search box and this will take you where brochures, road maps, and current conditions can be found.
