Book Review: A Woman After God's Own Heart by Elizabeth George

I recently had the wonderful blessing of reading A Woman After God's Own Heart by Elizabeth George. So wonderful was my experience in reading it, and learning much from it, that I ended up going out to buy my very own copy! This book is a blessing to anyone who reads it, and I would recommend it to any woman. It will enrich and bless your own walk with God, and I believe it's a truly God-inspired work.

The entire theme of A Woman After God's Own Heart, is on learning to become the women of excellence that God has designed us to be. This book is divided into three parts, and twenty-two chapters.

9. A Heart That Loves, Part III

Her Ministry
19. A Heart That Shows It Cares
20. A Heart That Encourages

Part Three is: The Practice of God's Priorities
21. A Heart That Seeks First Things first
22. Following After God's Heart

The foreword, or "Word Of Welcome" contains the opening line: "Imagine living life so that people thought of each of us- today and long after we're gone- as a woman after God's own heart!" This is a strong indicator of how powerful this book really is, because, after reading this first line, just in the foreword, I was inspired to find out what a woman after God's own heart was! This line made me think and realize, that's exactly how I'd like people to think of and remember me! What a powerful message Elizabeth George sends out, just in that first sentence.

At the end of the book, there is a section called "Heart Actions" and it's like a mini-study guide for each chapter, complete with biblical scriptures, questions, and places to write your thoughts. What a powerful way to learn to put the principals you've learned into action! This section at the end of the book helped me to truly absorb the principals I'd learned in the book, and helped me to put them into action. What a blessing!

This book covers all the important things to a Christian woman, or any woman for that matter... Our husbands, our children, our home, our walk with God, and how we minister to others. I can't recommend this book highly enough. I believe this book would be very inspiring and helpful to all women of faith, in their journey of spirituality and faith.
