Amber Bowden is a 50-year-old widow who lives in the beautiful town of Winchester, VA. I am the founder and creator of the MedTrakker Medical Organizers. Currently, she has developed several types of MedTrakkers, due to the experiences she has shared with those she loves. Ms. Bowden wants to share with you how she was inspired to create each new MedTrakker Medical Organizer. Families or patients can store their medical information in one secure place, it's easy to carry, and allows individual to share their medical history to their doctor(s) as needed.
Ms. Bowden's story starts when her mother, Joann Poland, was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2006, and she became her full-time caretaker. This was a stressful and hectic time for her, because of the unlimited paperwork she had to deal with. She had to keep track of the medications, next appointments, and all the paperwork she was given at the doctor's office. In addition, she had to make sure that she kept detailed notes about the care her mother was receiving, so she could take a day off and keep the other family members aware of her mother's medical needs.
Additionally, Ms. Bowden had to keep a record of tests results, contact numbers for her mother's doctors and specialists, and other notes for family members who may become her temporary caretaker, while she was away running errands. One night, she was stressing over how much paperwork she had to go through and was creating papers to take notes on, as well as test result logs. Her mind began stirring with ideas that she accumulated into this new medical organizer that she had begun creating.
Ms. Bowden wanted to make sure it could be personalized to fit all of her needs, in order to keep the information she needed at her fingertips. The main things she wanted help with was storing paperwork, contact numbers, test results, and a place for notes. However, she added many different sections to the organizer, which was based on what she had always dealt with during her mother's treatment. She added a place for insurance, medical history, blood counts, personal emergency contacts, and so much more.
She created the first MedTrakker Medical Organizer for her mom and began using it immediately. Ms. Bowden found herself and others referring to it as needed, which gave her an idea to create the Cancer Trakker. She knew other caretakers and families would appreciate having a medical organizer like this for their own loved ones. To help other families that are dealing with becoming caretakers of his or her loved one. Personally, she knew how useful this book could be and she found others wanted to know more about her creation. It wasn't until her mother passed away seven months later after being diagnosed, that she decided that she wanted to help others in relieving the stress of starting from scratch.
Ms. Bowden knew from her own medical training and education that keeping copies of all medical records at home is encouraged by the medical community. She began thinking of ways that she could shape the MedTrakker Medical Organizer into a useful resource for families that may need a medical organizer. Furthermore, she knew caregivers could benefit from what she had created. Therefore, she began looking into making this into a side business, in order to see if anyone else had an interest in this medical organizer that she had created.
In 2009, Ms. Bowden learned that her brother was diagnosed with a serious heart related illness, which prompted her to research making a medical organizer for him as well. She called different physicians, nurse practitioners, and specialists to glean their minds for the things that she should include in the new MedTrakker she was making for cardiac patients. She finished this specialized version of the MedTrakker and named it the Cardiac Trakker, but the first one she made went to her brother's wife.
Ms. Bowden husband was diagnosed with type II diabetes in 2007, so she decided to create the Diabetic Trakker for him as a present. Of course, she began researching and picking physician's brains again, because she wanted to find out what exactly the type of paperwork a patient with diabetes would need to keep up with. She began creating the first edition of the Diabetic Trakker, which she ended up giving to her husband but she knew other families who could also use one.
After several months had passed, she began offering the Diabetic Trakker to patients or parents that have been touched by diabetes. She knew they would need a place to track vital information like daily sugar test results and amount of medication taken that day. Ms. Bowden made sure the specialized MedTrakker Medical Organizer is full of informational tips like recipes for Diabetics and motivational quotes. This new MedTrakker would be added to the growing family of products that she had created.
Next, she began thinking about creating a medical organizer for myself that she could keep her own medical information as needed. She didn't have a specific condition, so she began creating what is called a Universal MedTrakker. She knew this would be perfect for her and other families she knew. Ms. Bowden made it so anyone can use them, even parents with small children who may or may not be sick. She wanted every family to have a chance to be proactive when it comes to his or her health and medical records.
In 2010, Ms. Bowden learned that her son was becoming a father and this spawned the idea of making a Baby Trakker. This new MedTrakker joined the growing family of medical organizers, but this one was aimed at pregnant new moms. The Baby Trakker will allow women to document every aspect of their pregnancy, as well as personalize their copy of the medical organizer. In addition, they could add the baby's picture; monitor the baby's growth, and his or her milestones using this new MedTrakker.
This is Ms. Bowden story about how she created each MedTrakker throughout the many struggles that she faced with her own loved ones. She learned that people were interested in the MedTrakker family of medical organizers that she had created, through meeting new people through social networks like Facebook or Twitter. Now, she has made it her personal mission to see that every home has access to a MedTrakker Medical Organizer.
