A Woman's Guide to Buying a Car

Aaron Conor
Buying a car can be frustrating for women. Women have to be extra vigilant because they never know when the salesperson might try to take advantage of them. If a woman fails to take preventative measures, she could end up being another innocent victim of a sales pitch from a car dealer. In this article, I will discuss some tips that women can take to make themselves safer from car sales people.

Shop online.

How about shopping for your next vehicle online? This protects you from any salesman(or woman), who tries to convince you to buy a car from them. Take your time and look as long as you like because there will be no one rushing you. Your computer doesn't care what kind of car you buy. And you'll probably find some great deals online too.

Take someone with you.

If you don't like the idea of shopping for a car online then feel free to visit a car dealership. But take someone with you. This could be anyone. The main reason to take someone with you is so they can distract the salesperson, which gives you more time to think on whether or not you want to purchase the vehicle. Perhaps bring along your twelve year old son, and have him ask the car dealer different questions.

Or bring your boyfriend with you. It especially helps if he's the intimidating type. No salesperson will want to offend him, and you will feel less pressured to buy a car you don't want. You can even take one of your girlfriends with you. If the salesperson is a man than your girlfriend might be able to distract him by flirting with him albeit, which will also buy you more time to think about your purchase.

Show proof of cheaper prices.

Do your research and prove to the salesperson that you have found the same car at other dealerships for much less. Ask the salesperson if he or she will lower the price of the car based on your research. If the salesperson says no then threaten to go elsewhere. I'm betting that the salesperson will give in to your demands.

Be knowledgeable about vehicles.

Being knowledgeable about cars is similar to displaying proof that you found a cheaper car at another dealership. But instead of just knowing about prices, you should understand how cars work. I'm not saying you have to be a master at it, just know enough about cars to be able to ask the salesperson some decent questions. This proves that you know what you're talking about, and the salesperson will probably have a more respectful attitude towards you.

If you're a woman who wants to buy a car then make sure you go about it the right way. When done correctly, buying a car can be a simple process. If the proper steps are taken then the car buying process can actually be fun for a woman.
