A Woman's Guide: Five Questions to Ask on a First Date

You don't want to bombard this guy with questions. Most guys are turned off by interrogations. Limit the questions to two or three. Don't go into journalistic mode and ask him questions in a list. You want to make it look like you're not asking him a question at all. Something like this will work. "My friend plays bass guitar in an all girl rock band, I'm going to see her band play a gig on Saturday afternoon. Do you play any musical instruments?

How Did You Get Into Your Profession?

This question will give him a chance to tell you how he rose to his current position in his. It will let you know how he may have a passion for helping people, or law, or whatever his job is. This question will tell you if he feels stuck in a job that he doesn't like. It will let you know if he intends on furthering his education to advance his position or if he intends on changing career paths all together.

Where Do You Like To Go On Vacation?

This question will let you know a bit about his personality. Is he a beach bum? A mountain climber? A five star hotel kind of guy? Or maybe he works so much that he hasn't been on a vacation or taken any time off for twelve years.

Are You The Oldest Sibling? The Middle Child? Or The Baby Of The Family?

This is a great way to find out how good or bad his relationship with his family is. There's a good chance that he'll go into how his childhood was. He might even let out something interesting like, "I haven't spoken to my father for five years".

What Do You Do To Unwind?

Possible answers include, "Workout". (a health enthusiast), "Drink", (a party hardy kind of guy or an alcoholic), or, "Watch UFC fighting" (a masculine guy or likes watching people get their butt kicked).

Where Did You Go To College And Why Did You Choose That School?

This is a good question. You want to know if he chose that college because there is four women to every guy on campus. You want to know if he chose that school because it's only a thirty minute drive to his mother's home. Maybe he chose that school because of it's reputation for having one of the best music education programs in the country.

Any of these questions will tell you quite a bit about your date and they're not out of line at all. Good luck to you.
