A Word of Caution About Circle Contact Lenses

Fashionable or Foolish Choice?

Lee Hansen
Just because something is a trend doesn't always mean it is one to be followed. An example would be the use of something called Circle Contact Lenses.

According to the Fall Edition 2010 newsletter of Advanced Eyecare Blue Springs Optical, "Circle lenses make the eyes appear larger and "doll-like" because they not only cover the iris as normal contact lenses do, but also part of the white of the eyes".

If consumers choose to use them they should be aware of the following things:

♦ These lenses are sold on-line without a prescription - this would seem to be a definite no-no

♦ They are not properly fitted by an eye doctor

♦ As a result infections of the eye are more likely to occur

♦ In some cases permanent loss of vision could be the result

♦ Sharing your lenses with someone else increases the chance of infections and other complications

If you're interested in contact lenses of any type, be on the safe side. Make an appointment with your eye doctor.

Your eyes are worth taking care of. Don't risk your vision for the sake of vanity.

Great information Lee. I thought I wanted contact lenses, but always felt like I was poking myself in the eye.
