A World to Harvest

A Harvest Season Poem

Rachael A. Lund
The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few
the words of the Lord speak so much truth
for thousands of children will starve to death today
but very few people will care enough to feed them
thousands of children will sleep on the streets tonight
but very few people will give them a home
thousands of little girls will be forced into prostitution
but very few people will save them from abuse
thousands of little boys will be kidnapped to become soldiers
but very few people will fight for their freedom
thousands of children will be sold into slave labor
but very few people will rescue them from death
thousands of children will be murdered before birth
but very few people will value their lives
thousands of children will suffer cruelties of injustice
but very few people will think they have any rights
thousands of children need someone to care
but very few people will open their eyes to see
the plentiful fields waiting to be harvested
thousands of children that need to be saved
and given a chance to live the life that is truly life
