A World of Unexplained Mysteries

60 Years of Investigating the World's Greatest Unexplained Mysteries in 25 Countries

Since the advent of the fictional movie character, Archaeologist Indiana Jones, the image of the adventure-seeking archaeologist changed forever. Unbeknown to most 'Indi' enthusiasts over 80% of the life of an archaeologist is spent in libraries or nowadays sat at a computer!

The remaining 20% involves digging around painstakingly in some remote sand swept desert or snake-ridden jungle.

In the early 50's I was Associated Press's photojournalist based on the tiny Island of Malta, in the heart of the Mediterranean. I was approached by Dr. David Trump, one of Cambridge Universities leading archaeologists to assist with the recording of artifacts being unearthed during the excavations at the unique Christian catacombs being excavated beneath the ancient city of Rabat on the Island. To cut a long story short I went on to spend 5 amazing years working on excavations and archaeological sites which abound on this archaeologists paradise, before returning to Cambridge to complete my studies.

If you in your travels are in search of somewhere totally unique and unforgettable to spend a much-deserved vacation I can think of no place better than this delightful Mediterranean island. Visited by every known civilization over the centuries including the infamous Knights Templar who became the Knights of Malta and who's organization still exists to this day.

I was so impressed with the country and its people I have returned several times over the years and on my last visit excavated wife number 7!

My last TV special was filmed at the amazing "Cave of Darkness" which dates back some 125,000 years!

This Sunday, I return to the airways on "The Talk of Las Vegas" Radio Station KLAV1230am, with an all new "World of unexplained mysteries" series. It will be my 60th year as a broadcaster, and as near as it is possible to calculate my 4,000 radio broadcast.

The subject will be the world's greatest unexplained mystery - "The Sacred Shroud of Turin" and amongst my guests will be fellow archaeological photographer Barry M. Schwortz, who had the opportunity to photograph the Shroud with the STURP investigative team in 1977. It was on the Island of Malta that I based my historic fiction "In the Image of His God" , a conspiracy involving the Pope, the Catholic Church, the Shroud of Turin and a dear friend of mine Fr. Victor Camilleri who still to this day manages the excavations at the catacombs at St. Agathas on the island.

Enjoy your travels and continue to explore!
