A What Would Jesus Do? Sticker Does Not Make You a Christian

All the Fish Emblems and Wwjd Stickers Won't Get You into Heaven

Chris Berry
I recently read an article by a woman who had been cut off in traffic by another woman who had a "What Would Jesus Do?" sticker on the back of her car. She went on to talk about how hypocritical the other woman was. I personally have always believed that adding a sticker or a fish to your car never has and never will make you a Christian. Neither will showing up in church every Sunday. Having said that, I have to admit that I prefer the "What Did Jesus Do?" stickers to the other ones. To me they make more sense. I wasn't around when Jesus was alive so I wouldn't profess to know what he would do.

Now I know you die hard "Christians" are going to tell me to read the bible etc. Let me save you some time. I already have. What I learned was that Jesus was human just like you and me. I also know that he had a temper and I'm sure that he had his frustrations with the bad camel and donkey drivers of the day. The road to Jerusalem after all was a very narrow and crowded one. Jesus didn't go to church. He found it hypocritical. Jesus didn't need the church he was the church as so should be we all. He didn't need the fancy trappings, and the rich people all done up in their finery nor the commercialism that was already pandemic in the established religions. He was much more comfortable preaching against them and wherever people gathered to hear him. He carried no signs, banners, stickers or fish symbols. He just to the best of his ability did what he had to do wherever he had to do it. He tried to lead by example when he could.

Jesus was not a perfect human being. I know to some that sounds like blasphemy but truth is Jesus would have been the first to admit it. A lot of so called Christians spend way too much time scrutinizing and condemning others for their shortcomings. Jesus did not do this. He preferred to surround himself with and preach to the poor, the sick, the disenfranchised, prostitutes, thieves and all manner of what today most modern "Christians" would consider the lower classes. Jesus did not chastise those people so much as minister to them. This is what in my opinion separates the true Christians from the hypocritical whannabees.

I truly believe that when judgment day comes and you have said or done something that drove someone away from God you are going to be in big trouble with the man upstairs. I guess my point is that rather than beat people over the head with your doctrine and your bible quotes and rather than condemn and look down your nose at those less fortunate or pious than yourself doesn't it make more sense to accept them for who and what they are and to teach and lead by example?
Just a thought for the next time you are out cutting people off in your sticker and fish emblem laden car. One other thing, even if you don't subscribe to current "Christian" doctrine you have to admit that Jesus if nothing else was a great role model.

  • Jesus was human just like you and me.
  • Jesus found the church hypocritical.
  • Jesus surrounde himself with the poor, infirm, and morally bankrupt.
Almost all of the world's religions claim that they are the only true religion and therefore the only way into heaven.

yes this is so true i'm not one to start pointing fingers ,but i have found that a true christian acts on love and we will get hurt but this only will make us more like him isnt this what we all should try it really is hard being good. anyone can be mean. pray for those that hurt people just to hurt. God is light so stay in that light and he will not leave never.

As a twisted hardcore Christian let me just say that we can heal you. Just hold this snake while I pour olive oil on your head.

"adding a sticker or a fish to your car never has and never will make you a Christian"...This reminds of the saying "If just sitting in church will make you into a Christian, then just sitting in the garage should make you into a car."

I'm inspired. I've spent the last few hours looking for prostitute to minister to, but to no avail.

The vast majority of christians in America today would not even be recognized by the Christ of the bible. The hypocrisy leaves a stink that rises to the heavens.
