A New Writer on Associated Content Offers a Review

A Newbie Gives His Opinion

K.L. Stevens
I recently came across Associated Content while between projects. I work as a contract attorney and work has been slow the last few months. I figured, hey, why not write some articles when work is slow, and then when I get back to work and I'm too busy to write, I'll still get some residual income. Associated Content seemed perfect for that. It should keep me busy and productive while waiting for the phone to ring for my next legal project.

Now, it's only been a few days, but I've enjoyed cranking out some good content so far and I thought it would be a good time to offer a quick review. I had some articles that I had pre-written for another project, and never used, so I put them out there. I also used to have a military blog when I was deployed to Iraq, so I've put some of those up for display to fill my page up and attract some followers. I'm still waiting for word back on my submitted articles, but I feel good about some of them.

For other new Associated Content writers like me who are reading this review, I would make a few recommendations:

Review Associated Content's frequently asked questions area and browse the forums
Obviously there is some important information there, which you will need to know before you begin. Also, you want to be as efficient as possible while still putting good content out there. Don't waste your time writing articles for Associated Content that won't get visited. Remember, time is money.

Write, write, write, and then review
Yes, look at the forums, but don't spend all you time there. In order to become a better writer, and a more effective Associated Content producer, you'll have to simply write. The more you write, the faster you'll figure out what works and what doesn't. You can review all the forums, but at some point you're just going to have to jump off the deep end. The best way to learn is to make mistakes.

SEO is important for Associated Content
So, you're a new producer? You'll need to learn about search engine optimization if you want to make money. I would definitely recommend reading a few articles and practicing SEO methods. Write, yes. But, write for a purpose and review your work. It will help you make more money and get more page views.

Do you have old articles you wrote, but never published?
I did, and I won't use them in the future, so I put them up here. Whether I get paid to post it or not, it will help with the number of page views I get. Plus, it didn't take very much time to do. The articles were already written, so all I had to do was review them and give them a quick tweak. Posting those articles I had already written helped me to more quickly learn about posting. I'm hoping people will come to me from some of those articles, and then take the time to look at my new articles.

As a new writer, I'm looking forward to learning more about Associated Content and how I can be more productive and effective. After getting some more content up, I'm going to take the next step and review efforts are most effective to promote my work. Maybe a blog, maybe Squido, maybe Facebook or Twitter. It'll be fun to learn more. If you're an Associated Content veteran, I would love to hear your comments about this review. If you're a newbie like me, I hope we can learn together!

Curtis- great points! I've been thinking about the Yahoo groups. I can see how that could really drive traffic to your articles.

All good points, as a clout 10 and in the top 100 I might add my best results were accomplished by finding a popular subject, create a blog on the subject with links to each of your articles, and join yahoo groups on the subject to promote your work. Check out: ( stealthvandweller.blogspot.com ) to see what I mean. Good luck.
