A New Year's Poem

Etienne J. Sarfelli
Aim high in your endeavors
But at some point
Be happy with what you have in life
It is exhausting
Always wanting what someone else has
And sooner or later you will discover
You cannot have it all
Better you should
Make this discovery sooner rather than later
Honor your commitments
Protect your investments
Appreciate your possessions
And respect those who are in your care
Do not discard things callously
For someone else will always be happy
with that which you disregard--
you will miss it once it is gone
Learn from your mistakes
Do not dwell on them
And make an effort to learn something new every day
