A Young Actor Dies

Orchiolum
A young actor dies.
Greed and sensationalism
devour compassion.

My intent is not to judge or to condemn others who have written about the passing of Heath Ledger. Rather, I recognize that the events of the past few hours have many components; news, tragedy, and speculation are among them. This haiku reflects another aspect of what many may think and feel when confronted with such sudden, public loss.

John Gibson used Ledger's performance in Brokeback Mountain to repeatedly attack Ledger and mock his death. Gibson inhabits the darkest and depraved niches of the inhuman experience.

I wonder if John Gibson, in his profoundly bottomless ignorance, is capable of understanding this poetry?

It was so sad for that little girl to grow up without her Dad. My nephew died of a drug overdose, March 9th of this year.
