Aaliyah Birthday Tribute - Rest in Peace Aaliyah

Aaliyah Birthday Tribute, Biography and Trivia. Rest in Peace Aaliyah

CB
This is a tribute to Aaliyah (Aaliyah Dana Haughton), born on 16-January-1979, an American recording artist, actress and model. Today would have been Aaliyah's 30th birthday. I am writing this tribute to Aaliyah, because I remember her as one of the first R&B singers I was exposed to. She died in 2001 in a plane crash. I was shocked as I had started listening to her music just a few years ago. To know she died at such a young age was shocking to the 17 year old I was back then.

In 1994, Aaliyah released her debut album "Age Ain't Nothin' But a Number". A song by the same name was a super-hit and her debut album went platinum.

When Aaliyah's life ended in that plane crash, she was at the peak of her career. After her death Rosario Dawson, Quincy Jones, Missy Elliot, Jay-Z and Toni Braxton (among others) filmed a video of 5 top hits "Miss You" just to pay tribute to her. Such a shame when people leave us so young.
