ABC Ask's for Jillian Harris and Vienna Girardi to Give Back Their Diamond Engagement Rings

ABC has asked Jillian Harris and Vienna Girardi to give back the diamond engagement rings they received after they were proposed to on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette respectively.

Out of 19 relationships created during the franchises run on ABC only 3 couples are reportedly still together

Many viewers had hoped the relationship between Jillian Harris and Ed Swiderski would work out, with many comparing the couple to Trista Rehn and her Bachelorette choice Ryan Sutter.

The ring, reportedly worth $60,000, is a 2.05 pear-shaped diamond ring with six baguette-cut diamonds surrounding the diamond.

Jillian Harris released her first statement since the breakup to website RadarOnline by saying, "I love him and I'm really sad, but I have to look out for me" before she left California to move back to her parents' house in Canada. But some reports are saying Jillian hasn't entirely given up on Ed and is hoping some time apart may bring them back together in the future.

After her breakup with Jake Pavelka made world wide tabloid news, Vienna Girardi was asked to turn the same diamond ring she received at the end of The Bachelor back in to ABC executives. One of the only rings not provided by ABC was the one Aaron Buerge purchased for winner Helene Eksterowicz in Season Two. That gesture also won the hearts of America by showing Aaron as a sweet guy. After Buerge and Eksterowicz broke up she sold the ring on eBay.

According to the rules of the Bachelor and Bachelorette contracts Jillian Harris is not allowed to keep the ring because she was only engaged to Ed for 13 months. According to ABC if a couple is together for at least two consecutive years with no compulsory marriage they can keep the ring. If the couple breaks up in that time it goes back to ABC to be used as a prop for the next season.
